DaBaby’s meteoric rise to stardom over the past year is tough to ignore. On Tuesday (December 10), the North Carolina native received a public cosign from one of music’s biggest artists — Drake.

DaBaby was in Toronto as part of his KIRK tour. During his set, the 27-year-old surprised his fans by inviting the 6 God to join him onstage.

After treating the crowd to a live performance of his hit single “Money In The Grave,” Drake made sure to publicly acknowledge the growing success of the “BOP mastermind.

“2018, 2017, I used to watch you rep your city,” Drake said, speaking directly to DaBaby. “I used to watch you love your city. And look, we don’t say this enough to each other as rappers, but I wanna say ‘Congratulations. You killing this shit.’”

DaBaby posted a video clip of the moment to his Instagram account with the caption, “Shared the stage w/a legend tonight.”

Before leaving, Drizzy thanked the crowd and updated fans on his next album. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]

“I love you with all my heart,” he said. “I’mma go back to the crib and try to finish this album up so we can turn up 2020.”

Drake hasn’t released a new solo album since 2018’s Scorpion. In June, he posted an Instagram photo captioned “Album mode,” letting fans know he was back in the studio.
