New York, NY

Tekashi 6ix9ine has been behind the bars of a New York prison since November 2018 after catching several felony charges, including racketeering.

During the trial against alleged Nine Trey Gangsta Blood members Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack in October, the controversial rapper admitted he agreed to turn government witness one day after his arrest.

As a result, 6ix9ine is expected to get a reduced sentence when he sees the judge on December 18.

According to Pitchfork, United States Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman submitted a letter to the judge officially recommending 6ix9ine’s sentence be reduced, explaining he was crucial to the case.

“[Daniel] Hernandez provided the Government with critical insight into the structure and organization of Nine Trey, identified the gang’s key players, and described acts of violence that he personally witnessed or that he heard about from other Nine Trey members,” Berman wrote in a letter viewed by Pitchfork.

Prosecutors praised 6ix9ine for aiding them in obtaining “timely convictions for all defendants.” Berman also noted, “Hernandez testified in the face of threats of safety to him and his family.”

Due to his cooperation, 6ix9ine could get out of prison as early as the top of 2020.
