Dame Dash was reportedly arrested in New York City on Wednesday (November 20). TMZ reports the music mogul was taken into custody as he was attempting to pay a hefty child support bill that he owed to not one but two of his children’s mothers — Rachel Roy and Cindy Morales.
He managed to pay roughly $1 million dollars to take care of one warrant, but when he tried to clear up the other one at a different courthouse, seven deputies followed him out of the first courthouse He was eventually cuffed. Although he had to shell out over $1 million to the courts, he was ultimately able to settle up.
As he was leaving the courthouse, he apparently laid into the reporters who were hovering around him for always focusing on the negative. He shared video of the encounter to his Instagram account.
“I already know they gonna try to say bits and pieces of my statements,” he captioned the clip. “this is my statement … let’s see if they write everything I say … #warrentfree.”
In March, it was revealed he owed a combined $400,000 to both women and Dame claimed he would surrender to the NYPD to handle a three-year-old warrant — but he never did. Since then, the debt had only increased.
To his credit, Dame had previously asked a judge to end his child support payments since he was only pulling in $56,000 a year and was no long able to afford the $6,000 a month Roy demanded.
