While Lauryn Hill has stayed busy touring for the 20th anniversary of The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, she hasn’t released a proper solo album since, well, The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. 

But on Friday (November 15), the ex-Fugees member dropped ” Guarding The Gates,” her first solo single since 2014’s “Black Rage,” which she dedicated to the people of Ferguson, Missouri after Michael Brown was shot and killed by a police officer.

“Guarding The Gates” comes from the soundtrack for the Lena Waithe-scripted filmQueen & Slim, which features the breakout star from Get Out Daniel Kaluuya and newcomer Jodie Turner-Smith.

The trailer for the film featured music from The Pharcyde and the soundtrack itself boasts music from Vince Staples, Megan Thee Stallion and Blood Orange, among others.

Queen & Slim hit theaters nationwide on November 27.
