Mega Ran has dropped a surprise EP, AGES Vol. 1, for his fans. On the heels of a successful Kickstarter campaign for his Black Materia remake, the veteran MC debuts his new project on HipHopDX.
“I took some inventory on my musical output this year, and it’s been mostly singles and joint projects, which made it time for me to work on solo music again,” Mega Ran tells DX. “The project was just going to be one long song, ‘Ages,’ for Patreon and Kickstarter supporters, but I thought the end of the year was a perfect time to wrap up my year in music with a bit of reflection over several beats I’d been holding onto for years, such as the EOM track, and so I got to work.”
He adds, “One song led to another and before I knew it I had eight tracks I really loved. The album is all about my mentality at different key points in my life, working backward with the intro being where I am right now and the ending being where I was in the beginning. I’m super proud of the project and can’t wait to play these records live on tour this winter.”
