Drakeo The Ruler’s legal woes are far from over despite being acquitted of murder and attempted murder in July. According to The FADER, the Los Angeles County District Attorney has refiled criminal gang conspiracy and shooting from a motor vehicle charges against the West Coast rapper.
Earlier this summer, a jury acquitted Drakeo of murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Davion Gregory. But jurors couldn’t reach a verdict on the other two counts against him, opening the door for the D.A. to refile the charges.
A new trial is expected to begin in late fall or early winter. If convicted, Drakeo could be sentenced to life in prison.
Drakeo, whose real name is Darrell Caldwell, has remained behind bars since he was acquitted of murder. On Tuesday (September 3), he voiced his frustration with the latest development in the case via a series of Twitter posts.
