Mariah Carey has congratulated Lil Nas X for beating her record for the longest-running No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100.

Carey shared a photoshopped image of herself passing the torch to the “Old Town Road” creator via Instagram. The hit single recently surpassed the 16-week mark set by her and Boyz II Men’s 1995 track “One Sweet Day.”

“Sending love & congrats to @lilnasx on breaking one of the longest running records in music history!” she wrote. “We’ve been blessed to hold this record with a song that means a great deal to @BoyzIIMen and myself and has touched so many. Keep living your best life! One Sweet Day will always hold a special place in my heart and I want to thank anyone who’s ever told me how this song has affected them and their loved ones.”

Carey’s 16-week record was previously tied by Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber’s 2017 single “Despacito.” As of July 2019, Lil Nas X’s breakthrough song has set the new high-mark at 17 weeks.
