Brooklyn, NY

adidas Skateboarding brought together several Hip Hop legends on Monday night (July 22) to unveil its new Beastie Boys collaboration during a private engagement at Beyond The Streets (BTS) in New York City.

According to a press release, the surviving members of the Beasties, Mike D and Ad-Rock, former Def Jam Recordings creative director Cey Adams, radio pioneer Stretch Armstrong and LL Cool J were among those on deck to discuss the Beastie’s sophomore album, 1989’s Paul’s Boutique, and officially unveil the commemorative adidas Skateboarding x Beastie Boys Americana.

The three-way collaboration between the group, brand, and exhibition “celebrates the artist’s influences on skate, hardcore punk, Hip Hop and graffiti culture over the last three decades.”

The adidas Skateboarding x Beastie Boys Americana coincides with the official release of Paul’s Boutique on July 25, 1989.

As for the shoe itself, it boasts an entirely vegan canvas upper and arrives in an off-white and light grey color palette atop a classic gum sole with a light grey cotton jersey liner and matching three stripes. The Beastie Boys logo by artist Eric Haze is also stamped on the tongue and sockliner badgin.
