Ice Cube Reveals Script For “Last Friday” Film Is Finished

Ice Cube was a recent guest on ESPN’s The Jump where he provided a few details on the upcoming Friday film, the fourth in the franchise. During the conversation, he confirmed the script was complete and the powers that be are shooting for a 2020 release.

“Yeah, we pushing for it,” he said. “We finished the script, we are getting notes from the studio and it’s going back and forth. Get into pre-production and start hiring. It would be nice for this to come out on the 25th anniversary. That would be kinda … good.”

Cube teased the film on Twitter last month using one of the film’s signature catchphrases.

“To the 24 years that have flown since this came out, all I gotta say is… BYE, FELICIA. Do you want the next chapter??”

Although Cube initially shot down rumors there was another Friday film in the works, co-star John Witherspoon casually mentioned they’d received the “green light” for the movie during a 2017 interview with The Power 95.3 GetUpCrew Orlando.

Last June, Cube said the script was in the works but didn’t provide any further information. However, it’s clear Chris Tucker’s involvement is still up in the air. Tucker, of course, played his partner-in-crime Smokey.

Tucker addressed the topic in another interview with ESPN’s The Plug.

“I don’t know. I talked to Cube about it,” he said. “He told me he was working on some stuff. And if it comes together right, I’m definitely gonna look at it and see if it works. ‘Cause I never say never … I definitely want to check it out. If it works, it’s a possibility.”

      1. I was going to say the same thing. If they were smart, give it to people that understand the material and have been creating something similiar in this modern day. I think the writing team from “Atlanta” could pull it off! The original Friday and the first couple of minutes of the sequel were so subdued and perfect. The mix of talent with the right direction and tone would make this a modern comedy blockbuster if done right.

    1. Nobody cares at this point in time. Cube missed the bus for this many years ago.

    2. Nothing wrong with taking your time. You don’t really need Tucker at this point. The kind of comedy he provided comes and goes and if his heart isn’t into it, it could torpedo the whole movie. Friday has been great at generating funny new characters and they’ve done 2 without him. Rushing or forcing shit is how you end up with Belly 2 and How High 2.

    3. I don’t know bullshits more. Dr.Dre with “Detox”, or Cube with “Last Friday”.

    4. Hip Hop Culture motion picture ! Song of the Night Westside Connection ( Gangsta Make The World Go Around )

    5. Friday is a classic hood comedy. The next two got dumber and dumber. It’s like they tried to hard to be funny, the last one was kinda funny but stupid… if Chris tucker not in it then they shouldn’t do it imo

      1. Fact of life of right here. Do I still watch all the Friday movies? Hell yeah!
But the first one is timeless. Nothing but Certified masculinity with life lessons.
The next two didn’t have that

    6. Chris Tucker thought he was too big a star to return for the two sequels and that harmed the films, I’ll bet his washed up ass will be back for the final part as he looks to become relevant again.

      1. Please shut the fuck up the only person who looks washed up out here is you Sandy you need to get a life all of the Friday movies were good even without Chris Tucker. Which are all ugly dry ass go get a life these people that are here getting money would you doing besides running your mouth

    7. we do this every year…let’s just chill…this movie drops the same day as new Outkast, Detox, Little Brother and Jay Electronica

    8. I THINK HE IS GOING TO NAIL IT WITH THE LAST FRIDAY HOPE TO SE SOME OF MY HISPANIC PEEPS IN THIS ONE ?

      1. tha first set of mexicans on part one were tha ONLY good ones part two mexicans were HELLA GAY lolololololol welcome sweet ass hollywood…

    9. I hope he brings back the black & white flashback scenes from the first movie…the other two movies could’ve been better if those scenes were in them

    10. Man I like Chris Tucker but if he’s not down for the cause there’s no other comedian who would fit in his place like Kevin Hart.

    11. Would have loved to watch this several years ago. Couldn’t care less now. Sequels that come out over ten years later are almost never good.

    12. Chris Tucker is not the same young Chris Tucker we all remember that’s if he even appearance on last Friday but I’m hoping it be watchable!

      1. Both 2nd and 3rd didnt have chris tucker bro n they was class still he owes too much money to the goverment in tax so he wont do it
