Chicago police responded to an emergency call on Tuesday night (March 12) claiming R. Kelly’s girlfriends were planning to commit suicide, according to People Magazine. The anonymous caller alleged Azriel Clary and four other women were arranging to go through on a “suicide pact” in one of Kelly’s Trump Tower condos.
The police conducted a wellness check and concluded it wasn’t a legitimate incident. Chicago police issued a statement to People about the call.
“Police received a call from an out of state anonymous caller stating that people at the location were going to carry out a suicide pact,” the statement reads. “Police on scene conducting a wellness check and it is not a bonafide incident.”
Steve Greenberg, Kelly’s lawyer, said, “It is offensive that anyone gives this any credibility.”
Prior to Lifetime’s Surviving R. Kelly documentary, one of the famed singer’s early alleged victims claimed a suicide pact existed. Lizzette Martinez told People Kelly had such a pact with the women in his house.

“I mean my anxiety is constantly through the roof because I hear the parents, I hear there’s a plan in place,” she said. “That he’s put it in place that if something goes down they’re all going to take pills and kill … I just can’t.”
Kelly is currently facing 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse of minors. Three of the four alleged victims were between the ages of 13 and 17. If Kelly is found guilty on all counts, he could face up to 70 years in prison.
The embattled singer pleaded not guilty to all 10 charges.
