XXXTENTACION’s mother Cleopatra Bernard has reportedly filed a lawsuit against Ariana Onfroy, X’s half-sister.
According to The Daily Beast, Bernard believes an interview Onfroy gave to British tabloid The Sun about X’s June shooting death implicated her in his murder.
During the interview, Onfroy stated his murder was an “inside job.” Although she never specifically named Bernard as the orchestrator, Bernard thinks there’s enough confusion around the article that she decided to sue for defamation, libel and slander.
“It is with such sadness and remorse that the tragic end of [Bernard’s] son’s life had to be muddied with the disgraceful and hatred [sic] words of his sister towards his own mother,” Bernard’s lawyers Aaron Behar wrote in the legal document. “Given [Onfroy’s] horrific and emotionally disturbing accusations made purely out of spite, Plaintiff cannot simply ignore the damage the comments have caused not only to her reputation, but also to her financial and business endeavors as well.”
In the article in question — titled “INSIDE JOB’ XXXTentacion’s sister claims rapper’s murder was set up by member of his inner circle” — Onfroy suggested someone other than the four men currently charged with X’s murder was involved in planning his death.

“It was definitely an inside job,” she said. “There’s somebody on the inside that knew where he was going to be and the exact time he was leaving for the murderers to know when to come and to do what they did. It definitely was set up.”
X was killed in June outside of RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida. Investigators initially deemed it a “random robbery.”
Bernard is asking for upwards of $15,000 in damages.
