Reebok officially announced the partnership on Monday (November 5). As the new spokesperson, Cardi will help promote the company’s Aztrek sneakers.
“Everything that you love about Cardi B is what you love about Reebok,” Reebok said in a press release. “Reebok has a longstanding legacy of nonconformity, whether it’s creating the first workout shoe exclusively for women or putting bold-faced expletives and fresh-faced hip-hop stars in its big ad campaigns in the early ’00s.”
Cardi celebrated her latest deal by posting a picture from a Reebok photoshoot on Instagram.
“If you dont know, now you know,” she wrote. “REEBOK! #Aztrek @Reebok @ReebokClassics #Reebokpartner.”
Reebok president Matthew O’Toole explained why the company teamed up with Cardi in an interview with Women’s Wear Daily.
“For us, she really is emblematic of what our brand has done well over the years and that is to be bold, provocative and uninhibited,” he said. “If we look at some of the things we’ve done with Allen Iverson or being the first to sign musicians, or more recently with Kerby [Jean-Raymond] of Pyer Moss, when we are at our best we are with people who are comfortable living out loud and Cardi fits that.”
