New Orleans, LA

As part of the CRWN interview series, Lil Wayne sat down with Elliott Wilson in his hometown of New Orleans this week to discuss a plethora of topics, including why Drake isn’t on Tha Carter V.

Weezy’s explanation was simple.

“He has a song that didn’t get cleared,” Weezy said. “The clearances man. The clearances man. People be trippin’ when they find out who it is and when they find out what the song’s subject is about. They don’t represent the names of something like that.

After Wilson asked if it was because the songs were too “raunchy,” Wayne replied, “You really don’t know why they say no.”

Post Malone was also expected to appear on the track “What About Me” featuring Sosamann but when Tha CV arrived last Thursday (September 27), Malone was noticeably absent.

The song’s co-writer Johnny Yukon explained, “There is a version [of ‘What About Me’] that Post cut literally this week. [But] something happened, I don’t know what. Something got delivered wrong.”

The 23-track-project was released on Wayne’s 36th birthday and featured Nicki Minaj, Travis Scott, the late XXXTENTACION and more. [apple_news_ad type=”any”]
