John Legend has entered elite company in entertainment with his latest accomplishment.
Legend won an Emmy at the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (September 9). The acclaimed singer won for producing Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, which aired on NBC in April.
Thanks to his Emmy win, Legend is now the youngest EGOT winner in history. EGOT winners are those who have received Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards.
In addition to being the youngest EGOT recipient, Legend is also the first African American man to receive the honor.

Legend posted a photo of himself with fellow EGOT winners Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice on Instagram and expressed his gratefulness for the honor.
“Before tonight, only 12 people had won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony in competitive categories,” he wrote. “Sirs Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice and I joined that group when we won an Emmy for our production of their legendary show Jesus Christ Superstar. So happy to be part of this team. So honored they trusted me to play Jesus Christ. So amazed to be in such rarefied air. #EGOT.”
As an EGOT winner, Legend joins a group that includes entertainment legends such as Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks and Whoopi Goldberg.
