SZA Says Her Voice Is “Permanently Injured”

After SZA was temporarily removed from TDE’s Championship Tour due to swollen vocal chords, the CTRL singer has provided a somber update.

Earlier this week, SZA tweeted that her voice has been “permanently injured.” The reveal was made in a series of since-deleted tweets.

“My voice is permanently injured. Great!!!!!!!!!” she wrote.

The tweet came after SZA made her return to the stage during the Championship Tour stop on Tuesday (May 29) at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

Minutes after sending the tweet, SZA expressed she wanted a break.

“Tonight was the test. That settles that…I jus wanna be left alone my priorities are fucked up. They been fucked up. I need space goodbye,” she wrote in two separate tweets.

Whether SZA will continue on the Championship Tour remains to be seen but her tweets indicate an unlikely return.[apple_news_ad type=”any”]

    1. Sza is Dope. Hopefully she is being Dramatic. She needs an extended vacation. But don’t we all…

    2. She just needs to rest and let her voice heal naturally instead of forcing it. Hopefully she’ll be back stronger than ever.

    3. Great writer and performer. Average vocalist, on her best day. That said, it’s tragic that it appears she won’t be able to continue living her dream. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

        1. So anderson paak is not a soulful sounding artist, jimi hendrix, george clinton, soul/funk/rhythm artists can sound rugged too im just saying sometimes theres a silver lining and all there is to do is find it something holds you up it’s almost always possible to adjust and make a positive out of the negative, you have to in some cases especially highly regarded artists, plus how real do you think the permanence of it is, sounds like drama to me but who knows sza is a decent artist im not straight up trashing her but shit happens and if she cares enough about the music im positive she will adjust accordingly and come with something better than before

    4. She already said that her next album will be her last. I think this is the perfect out… or it’s just time to go back to all of that reverb whispering shit.
