Los Angeles, CA

The 2018 FYF Fest has been canceled. According to a Twitter post from the Los Angeles-based festival’s account, Goldenvoice and AEG Live — the promoters behind FYF Fest — felt “unable to present an experience on par with the expectations of our loyal music fans and the Los Angeles music community this year.”

But as Billboard reports, low tickets sales in April are believed to be a big factor in the equation.

Established in 2004 by Sean Carlson, FYF Fest has been a consistent force in L.A.’s summertime festival lineup. Trouble started in 2017 after Carlson was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior and graphic accounts of the allegations were made public.

Goldenvoice stepped in and bought out Carlson’s share at the end of last year.

FYF Fest’s Twitter post promised the festival’s organizers would be “announcing some special local shows soon, featuring some of the amazing artists from the 2018 line up.”

Last year’s event was held at Exposition Park in L.A. and featured headliners like Frank Ocean, Erykah Badu and A Tribe Called Quest.
