Watch Trailer For “Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story”

The official trailer for Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story was released on Monday (February 26). Executive produced by JAY-Z, the six-part docuseries revolves around the life of the unarmed 17-year-old Floridian who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman while walking home. Zimmerman was subsequently acquitted because of the Florida stand-your-ground law.

During the black and white clip, phrases like “He claimed self-defense” and “He was just a kid” scroll across the screen.

The trailer ends with a close up of Martin’s face and the words: “They say that time heals all wounds, it does not.”

Based on the book Rest In Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin — written by his parents — the series will also explore topics of race, politics, the criminal justice system, and formation of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story is expected to premiere in July.

      1. Are other black people paid to protect people though? Black people get arrested and sentenced for killing other black people, can the same be said about the police that kill black people?

        1. Yes multiple police have been convicted of murder, you’re an idiot.Google’s your friend bruh.

Stop deleting my comments, you’re the ones that are race baiting

        2. That’s because it is not reasonable to assume that a cop dealing with a citizen whom he’s never met, decided to kill that person just for fun. So yeah, the system does tend to give cops leway in that sense, because even if it turns out the reason that they panicked was misconstrued, there is no intent to get them a murder charge. But when BLM makes this argument, they appear to think that it only applies to cops who kill black people. Cops who kill white people, which there are actually more of, are no more likely to face prison time over it. I’d gladly stand with you to fight against state sponsored violence of all civilians, but BLM seems noticeable less angry when the victim is white. This makes me think it is nothing but media propaganda funded by the government to divide and conquer by provoking racial tensions, and sure enough they have done just that. Why do you think there hasn’t been a single BLM case plastered all over the news since January 2017, huh? You think no black person has been unjustly killed by cops in over a year? I can assure you that plenty of them have. The media doesn’t report on it anymore because they have their new boogeyman they can use to keep people divided. I assume you can figure out what/who I’m referring to.

      1. white people don’t get pissed off about this anymore. white people know black people will never admit there’s such a thing as a bad black person so they’re not even bothering listening to blacks complain anymore.

      2. I don’t think it’ll piss anyone off, but I do find it extremely ironic. Black people claim black lives matter, and fail to recognize the number one killer of black men. They focus mainly on white peolle, and cops. Cops kill less than 500 black men annually, and very few are unjustified murders. Then, again, they fail to recognize that the number one threat to a black mans existence… is another black man killing them. If black people didn’t kill black people, then the majority of black peolle who die under the age of 35… wouldn’t die. The black population in America makes up 13.4%… but commits over 50% of the murders. A black personal is statistically 14x more likely to be killed by another black person, than they are a white person, and over 5000% more likely than to be killed by an officer.

Black lives DO matter. Injustice and racism undoubtedly exists. But I feel that when claiming black lives matter, people need to look at the number one threat… not 10th or 15th biggest threat.

Number one threat to a young white mans life is drug overdose… that’s why they look at drug OD so much… and don’t bother looking at murder… it’s simply not as common among other races. And of course, all because black people statiscally kill the most people, that doesn’t in anyway represent an individual black person. Each person is different, and deserves to be judge as an individual, not as a culture or ethnicity.

    1. Maybe Treyvon shouldn’t have assaulted someone if he didn’t want to get shot. Also why is it cool for Jay Z to make money off exploiting an unfortunate death?

    2. THis should be called the DINDUNUFFIN docuseries. Episode one, punch an armed man when you have been arrested several times and are suspended from school…

    3. George zimmerman should be dead already. He followed that kid for no reason. pull his gun because he was pussy. zimmerman has a long criminal record and beats his bitch. these racist bastards let him get away with murder. All racist should be exeMcuted on live TV 😉

    4. This is one of the biggest Ls to african americans, this is why cops and these bigots still murk niggies for fun. Cuz yall dont bang back, how tf do u let son get away alive and talk shit smh but yall murking eachother for stares and flags. Complete lack of respect is deserved for this weak move.

    5. Black on black violence is way worse if we’re being real. Why can’t rappers Jay-Z n leaders deal with that?
