“We have already started on a new album,” Green said. “We’re halfway in and we have some overtures from the other projects that may not have stood the test of time, we don’t know yet. “I think [we’re] kind of rebuilding from the ground up. The eccentric rapper and singer, who delivered a memorable verse on Outkast’s 1994 Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik single “Git Up, Git Out,” is also working on a solo mixtape titled Songbirds.

He dropped a new single “Brick Road (Cookin Up)” earlier this week, although it isn’t produced by Danger Mouse. Filled with soulful melodies and delicate piano notes, the song revolves around the struggles that come along with substance abuse and the drug trade.

So far, there are no release dates for the Gnarls Barkley album or Green’s Songbirds mixtape.
