Gucci Mane has been on a tear since getting out of prison in May 2016, and it seems like the good times are set to continue for the recently married rapper.
Fresh from dropping a bestselling autobiography, Gucci announced that his record label Atlantic Records is putting even more faith in him by putting a $10 million extension on his contract.
The $10 million seems to be going toward Gucci’s plans for his next album — called El Gato The Human Glacier, apparently — judging by the tweets that the Atlanta rapper put out last night.
Writing to his fans on Twitter, Gucci said “Thank You @AtlanticRecords for the 10 million dollar extension #ELGATOTheHumanGlacier. I appreciate It sincerely.”
Gucci also shared his good vibes ahead of his next project, writing, “I feel like I’m a brand new artist working on his 1st album.”
The contractual re-up also makes it seem as if Guwop’s plan to go “100 percent independent” in 2018 are on hold for now.
Atlantic Records has yet to officially confirm the $10 million investment.
Lmao didnt like the idea of going independant and actualy having to wait for your money vs it being handed to you before at a severe discount huh?
No matter what happens in life, at least you don’t have an ice cream tatted on your face.
I better not get on here and say anything bad about Gucci because these young boys today look up to him so much and worship him like god. They pray to Gucci every night before bed and they attend the first traptist church of gucci mane
Why can’t artists just keep their mouths shut when it comes to a deal? Soulja Boy lied and said he was getting 400 million until his record label proved otherwise on Twitter. Tyrese bitch ass spilled the beans on Dr Dre’s headphones deal, until someone from the company corrected him. This is where good PR comes in. Let them take control of the artists social media accounts from now on
I don’t understand why he would do this. All he had to do was front the money on future albums to fund them and wait for the cash to come in.
He basically just needed to get a CDBaby account and upload his music to all the streaming sites and it would sell like it always does. He has a large social media following. He doesn’t really need much marketing anymore. His name is already well-established.
Plus, him fronting the costs of his albums would have probably helped tremendously in the quality control department. He would think twice about putting trash on his albums and releasing so many so quickly if he had to go get a bag of $50K from the bank to pay a producer for his beat every single time.
Anyways he’s an idiot. He could have basically damn near kept 100% of his money after expenses and now the label is gonna give him their 10-20% cut while they keep the rest of the money from album sales, touring, merchandise, his books and everything else.
Fronting the cost is hard when all your moneys spent on dumb shit before the albums done…he doesnt wanna be broke for a few months while profits come in he preffer the big check worth 40% of what his works really worth and get a lump some payment instead of waiting for the profits to stack…
I like seeing people getting paid especially people that come from nothing, but I don’t really believe they gave him 10 million unless they are doing like a 5-6 album deal, receiving money from his merchandise, publishing, tour, features, product endorsements, and tv/club/movie then maybe it makes sense for Atlantic. Also rappers lie, sometimes labels agree to deals for albums and which the label may have agreed on a 10 million dollar budget combine for the next 4,5,6 albums meaning they’re willing to pay for the production, videos, features, promoting
They gave him 10 mil to put towards the album he’s going to be able to do anything he wants any producer any rapper wouldn’t be surprised to see Kendrick on it
And there going to to make 100 off that 10
Bet that contract got a million loop holes and if that garbage don’t sell he will be on the hook for life 360 deals are not worth it
