Los Angeles, CA

The Weeknd was scheduled to perform at Grey Goose vodka’s 20th anniversary celebration on Friday (August 25) at Werkartz, a downtown Los Angeles production space. As people started showing up, they discovered the private event was no longer happening.

The fire marshal reportedly determined the promotors didn’t have the proper permits. A half hour before the concert was supposed to start, the people behind the event issued emails to those who had RSVP’ed and explained it was canceled because of “unforeseen production issues.”

Needless to say, people were furious and disappointed. Several people took to Twitter to voice their frustrations, including one social media user who suggested it reflected poorly on the Canadian R&B megastar.

“@greygoose @theweeknd whoever was in charge of this event should be losing their job I know it wasn’t your fault Abel but you look bad.”
