A Hotel Got Into A Twitter War After Dissing J. Cole’s New Album

The Hampton Inn in Sandy, Utah may have gotten more than it bargained for when it tweeted a joke about J. Cole’s new album 4 Your Eyez Only being boring.

Since the playful Friday tweet, which offered beds for those being “put to sleep” by Cole’s new record, the Hampton Inn Twitter account has been inundated with responses — some of which are playing along, but some of which are dishing out a roasting of their own.

Of course, once the hotel’s rap credentials were called into question they slipped up a little and revealed that their taste might be a little more on the Taylor Swift side of things.

Maybe it’s for the best that the Hampton Inn is calling Cole out, though, especially given some of the over-the-top praise that the album received on social media after its release.

They aren’t the only ones poking fun at the North Carolina rapper. Fat Kid Deals made the exact same gag on their own Twitter page, only about pillows.

Somehow, we don’t expect that Cole will respond.

    1. I think that the person who tweeted it actually listens to j cole and was disappointed. Just their point of view. Let people have opinions….that wasn’t too far to me. The album is dark/grey so it may put some people to sleep. Like a lot of the last Roots albums.

        1. I’m just keeping it real Zap. I’m real. I’m not being bias or anything because, actually, I like J. Cole’s album! But about 3 or 4 of the Roots’ last albums I couldn’t repeat. Man and I love the Roots….Black Thought is one of the illest EVER. I mean EVER. But those albums just weren’t there for me.

My point though, people can have opinions about whomever they want to have opinions about, because what they eat shouldn’t make me shit! LOL

    2. Very stupid of them!!
Stupid things like this can hurt a business. Stay advertising your dam hotel not trying to hurt someone else pocket in the music industry.

      1. Lol just knowing where this hotel is located put me to sleep. @HamptonInn You should revoke phone privileges to whomever wrote that shit LOL

    3. If they keep on getting responses and keep responding back with witty, hilarious comments, they will get promo. In short, ignore them. Sigh. #whenwillpeopleeverlearn

    4. Drake stans will hate on real hip-hop,its their nature,I for one I’m surprised, they would rather listen to views from a bunch of ghost writers and call that shit the shit.smh

      1. You right I don’t like J.Cole…I love him. He’s real, honest, relatable and it actually make sense and you don’t get any blacker than me.

    5. Sad thing is people would rather listen to these rappers that stand for absolutely nothing. It’s amazing. It seems if ain’t about sipping lean, hoes or blowing stacks in some strip club it ain’t shit. That’s really sad. Here you have an MC, storyteller giving people insight on some of the things that us ordinary people go through or maybe know someone who has gone through these things and he gets called boring. Album put me to sleep. Wow. But yet you have guys called lil this or lil that who make garbage that you can’t even understand. Closed captioning doesn’t even help with these dudes. Our people, culture are complete slaves to corporate mainstream who continue to feed us this trap, mumble rap bullshit. But when something like Cole’s album drops it’s a snoozer. I applaud Cole for making this album instead of taking the easy route. It’s a breath of fresh air in this zombie shit we call hip hop. Salute.

      1. Said it all. Cole’s been my best rapper since I got to know him. He ain’t gonna rap about s**ts like p**** and b**** and the kinda money he got. U know. He gon tell you the real s*** as it is happening in our lives.. And these people are biting his flow and style cos they just like the noise makers. F**ckem

      2. Save the emotional ass post. Cole’s voice is monotone. He rarely switched up his flow on the album, the beat selection was bland, etc. That can cause just about anyone to get a little bored. The album would have benefitted from having a few uptempo tracks to keep the listeners awake. It went from sounding like songs to one long ass lecture. He found the right mixture on Forest Hills Drive. He took a step backwards on this one as it pertains to crafting a decent album. That’s it.

        1. Yeah cause future, Uzi and all the other mumblers have different tones and varying beats huh?? Bitch please. They use the same bloody relayered trap beat, mumble the same meaningless bullshit and say “woo!” or some random bull shit sound at the end of each line. I have no idea why people like bullshit they don’t understand and why guys like cole have to take a backseat cause of that.

          1. We’re just simply saying at least make that shit entertaining. Make it sonically amusing. He might as well have made a spoken word album dude.

      3. HERE’S WHAT SMASHES EVERYTHING YOU SAID……..AND IT’S SIMPLE…….HIP HOP WAS STOLEN FROM US AND WE LET IT HAPPEN…..I MEAN, FROM THE VERY BEGINNING….THOSE ARTISTS BACK THEN COULD’VE MONOPOLIZED HIP HOP AND WE WOULD’VE HAD COMPLETE CONTROL. BUT NOPE, WE LET THOSE WHITE MEN IN SUIT IN TIES HANDLE IT SO WHO’S TO BLAME???? And on another note, exactly how many “niggas” NWA killed on there song? And didn’t Biggie threaten to “shoot your daughter in the calf muscle?”…..Yea great messages.

    6. Cole ain’t s**t but a less talented big krit. They rap about the same stuff but krit can produce and can switch his delivery. Cole is just ZzzzzzzZzZzzzz.

    7. Cole is a great rapper like @BlackMamba said he’s what rappers should be and even calls out all these different variations of “fake” rappers lmfao

    8. Yall getting yall panties in a bunch because of somebody’s opinion… It was a boring album to me too… i compare it to some Sade / Eryka Badu jazz afrocentric type ish and thats not what im into… if thats what u like fine but everybody i talked to about the album is pretty much saying the same thing… its just u internet fans that think whatever Cole drop is automatically fire without even really listening to it

    9. NOBODY MAD AT THE MESSAGE. IT’S JUST THE WAY HE CONVEYED THE MESSAGE. IT SHOULD’VE BEEN A SPOKEN WORD ALBUM. Hip hop is still suppose to be entertaining. And this album is not!

    10. Fuck outta here 4YEO is a perfect companion piece to 2014. Is it a front to back banger? Debatable, but damn good work nonetheless.
