Flatbush Zombies released “Glorious Thugs” today (January 12), a remake of The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Notorious Thugs,” according to Billboard.
The Flatbush Zombies song features the piano from Puff Daddy and Stevie J’s production on the original song, a cut from 1997’s Life After Death album that features Bone-thugs-n-harmony. The flow and verses are also crafted after the Biggie Smalls track with the verses starting off with Biggie and Bizzy Bone’s lines “Armed and dangerous” and “7 a.m., woke in the morning
With Hen’ and caffeine and green and nicotine.” There are other references to the original lyrics throughout the song.
The Brooklyn group is comprised of Eric Arc Elliott, Meechy Darko and Zombie Juice and has released two mixtapes, D.R.U.G.S.in 2012 and Better Off Dead in 2013. In 2014, it teamed up with The Underachievers to release the Clockwork Indigo EP.
Flatbush Zombies is preparing its debut album, 3001: A Laced Odyssey to be released March 11.
