There have been 129 confirmed deaths from yesterday’s terrorist attacks in Paris as the world is all eyes on the French city.

Yasiin Bey, who has lived abroad himself and isn’t afraid of taking on politics and social issues, recently spoke with Ferrari Sheppard about the attack in Paris and called out the Islamic State, who claimed responsibility.

“A big giant ‘fuck off’ to ISIS,” he said when asked about the incident. “You don’t represent nothing about Islam or nothing about the prophet.”

He also explained that love is lacking in the world and is necessary to end violence.

“Love must and will prevail,” he said. “I don’t care how corny it sounds. The world has been in a state of emergency. The problem is not Islam [or] organized religion. The problem is people’s lack of compassion and care for themselves and their fellow human beings. We don’t treat each other well. We need to treat each other better.”
