The article then creates a timeline of Jay Z’s public charity work. The first event listed is in April of 1999 when he donated proceeds from his show in Denver on the Hard Knock Life Tour to the families of the victims of the Columbine shooting.

In 2008,  Jay Z started an educational fund for the two children of Sean Bell who was shot and killed by police officers. Bell’s widow, Nicole Paultre-Bell, was featured in a Rocawear advertisement as part of the “I Will Not Lose” campaign.

The site lists the various foundations Jay Z has created, including Team Roc in 2001, the Shawn Carter Scholarship Foundation in 2003 and his joint charity with LeBron James called Two Kings.
