Waka Flocka Flame Blasts Atlantic Records

Waka Flocka Flame took to Twitter today (October 22) to blast his label, Atlantic Records.

“I fucking hate my label,” the Brick Squad rapper says in a series of posts. “Atlantic Records — LET ME BUY-OUT. Labels don’t do shit for the artist #FACTS Labels don’t invest #FACTS Labels hire a bunch of amateurs to keep cost down #FACTS.”

He also details the way he was treated after being shot in 2010.

“The first thing the label asked after I got shot is — ‘can you go to the studio,'” he says. “From that day forward I knew my label didn’t care I’m just another dollar sign #GetChaMoneyYoungNigga.”

Waka Flocka Flame is working on Flockaveli 2, which his Instagram page says is set for a December release. He also called out Atlantic Records in April, saying it was holding back the album.

    1. Atlantic Records was the same label that was fucking over Lupe Fiasco forever. He finally got off it this year with the Tetsuo and Youth album which thankfully was exactly how Lupe wanted it to be, but it took Anonymous threatening Atlantic for them to release it. Shame on them

    2. Noooooo reallllllllllly ? You deserve to be in label purgatory for being a dumbass and going with a label to begin with. Like they’d let buy yourself out with the money they gave you lmao.

    3. No matter who you are, DO NOT SIGN A RECORD CONTRACT. I have dealt with writing and reviewing music recording contracts and the label always stacks everything against the artists. Even if you want to audit the label to be sure you are being paid fairly, good luck b/c the audit will end up costing as much as what they owe you. They will drag it out and take as long as possible so your bill runs up.

Labels are evil enterprises and the only way they can make money is by screwing over the artists. With the way things are now, there is no reason whatsoever to sign with a label. You are basically signing the end of your career away if you sign a major label deal.
