DJ Premier says fans can expect to hear features from the likes of Ed Sheeran, Nas and Dr. Dre, among others, on his forthcoming debut solo album, Last Session @320.
Premier says that the project, which was first announced earlier this year, is dedicated to the history of D&D Studios, the recording space where DJ Premier spent much of his time working over the past two decades. In January, it was announced that D&D Studios had closed down, reportedly to make room for luxury apartments in the building it was housed in.
In addition to naming some of the guests he has lined up for the album, Premier revealed that he’s working on documentary about D&D Studios that he’s doing alongside the project.
“We’re doing a documentary film about D&D,” DJ Premier said during an interview with Hip-Hop 4 Life. “We just filmed Jay Z. We just filmed Nas. I’m doing an album with the film called Last Session @320 because that was our address: 320 West 37th Street. A lot of people would see me and go, ‘Yo, you still over at 320?’ So it’s called Last Session @320. I got Ed Sheeran, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Christina [Aguilera], the whole Black Moon, Smif-n-Wessun, Heltah Skeltah. I’m working on Eminem right now. We haven’t done it yet but I’m working on that. It’s not official but everybody else is. And I got Dr. Dre on the album.”

Although a release date for DJ Premier’s solo album has yet to be set, the producer did reveal that he will be releasing NYGz’ album, as well as his joint collaboration project with MC Eiht, in the near future.
“Right now I’m about to drop the NYGz album,” he says. “They are a part of the Gang Starr Foundation. I did the whole album. It’s a dope album. And then me and MC Eiht are doing an album collab together called Which Way Is West so that’s about to drop as well.”
Elsewhere in the conversation, DJ Premier spoke on the potential likelihood of a Gang Starr biopic.
“It’s really an idea that Guru’s sister Trish came up with,” the producer says. “I told her, ‘Lets do it, but lets wait and make sure we have some time to get a really good script.’ We need some time. I’m not in a rush to do it. I wanna do it when it all comes together. We still have some other things that we need to take care of with Guru’s estate and all of that but as far as her bringing me the idea, I told her I’m interested in doing it. Especially if she’s involved because [Guru] was very close to his sister Trish.”
