TIP is using the momentum of his Da’ Nic EP to prepare for the release of his 10th studio album, The Dime Trap, which is slated for a November release. The Grand Hustle boss enlisted fellow Atlanta emcee Young Thug to spit a verse on “Peanut Butter Jelly” for the EP and included him on the hit single “All About the Money” on his last album, Paperwork.
In an interview with Pigeons and Planes, TIP details what drew him to work with the 23-year-old.
“He has a unique style,” he says. “His melody, cadences, and ability to put songs together. He can make records that translate to the market. That shit is impeccable.”
TIP says that the recording process for “All About the Money” was simple.
“He just pulled up to the studio and we went ahead and did it,” he says.
TIP also recently announced his departure from Columbia Records. Da’ Nic was released independently through Grand Hustle.
“I got tired of waiting on what other people wanted to do,” he says of going independent. “I got tired of hearing what they wanted to do and how, and how long it was going to take, all that other extra shit. Just put the damn music out. Shut the fuck up and put the shit out.”
He is asked if his new label status will affect his creative process.
“Nope, I make the music pretty much how a dog shit in the street: when, where, and how I want,” TIP says.

Alot of ppl laugh when i tell them this…But T.I top five of all time in my book…I’m not his biggest fan by any measure but from one hustlers to another gotta give it where its due…Dude came in the game goin in and outta jail like Pac ..beefin w Flip when Flip was doin his thang, and dropping classic album at the same time..ushered in.a new sub genre of the art…along w movies and shyt..only rapper do reality show and still.keep respect….every body got flaw..but dude’s authentic real nigga..dude’s the blueprint
I can respect that. I wouldn’t put him top 5 of all time, but he was one of my favorite MCs to emerge during the 2000s. Still is, even though, musically, he hasn’t been up to par lately, but he can still rip verses.
working with horrible rappers is nothing new to T.I…young thug is terrible..nobody is checkin for T.I. after he endorsed Iggy..”rap career’s over, better off acting”..LOL
