Nicki Minaj & Chance The Rapper Celebrate Juneteenth

Today (June 19) marks the 150th anniversary of Juneteenth, the day that slavery was abolished in America.

Several rappers took to social media to celebrate the occasion, known as the Black Independence Day.

Nicki Minaj posted “Happy Juneteenth” with a smily-face emoji on Twitter.

Chance the Rapper posted “Happy Independence Day. #Juneteenth.”

Propaganda, rapper and spoken word artist from Humble Beast Records, posted a longer message in anticipation of his baby daughter. He is black and his wife is Mexican.

“She will know that she is fearfully and wonderfully made,” he says. “Black on purpose, Mexican on purpose. And her narrative is not defined by hate or oppression. Happy #Juneteenth.”
