Bun B’s “Religion & Hip Hop” course starts next week (March 24).

The popular class – previously only available to Rice University students – is now being offered through the online education site edX, through the school’s Center for Digital Learning and Scholarship.

Bun will continue to assist Rice’s Religious Studies professor Anthony Pinn with the lecturing.

Pinn and Bun have been actively promoting their upcoming class, since it was announced that the Hip Hop and Religion hybrid class would commence in the spring. In a new interview with HipHopWired, the professors assure prospective students that they can participate with their family members – if they choose to.

“We encourage any and everybody to be a part of this,” Bun tells HHW in a three-minute visual clip. “There’s nothing particularly vulgar or sexual about this course. Our youngest is 12, our oldest is 90. So, if families want to take this class together and educate each other during the course of this. This is something they can take and not be worried about the content of the course.”

“Folks don’t want to miss this,” Pinn interjects.
