Statik Selektah Says “Tyga Is The Real Life Malibu’s Most Wanted”

Responding to a Tweet from XXL about Tyga’s possible diss track for Drake called “Make It Work,” producer Statik Selektah fired off and said, “Kids a clown.”

Statik added on with another Tweet linking to a TMZ video, writing, “for anyone that thinks I was Extra or Wrong for the Tyga comment.”

Statik Selektah’s collaboration album with Jared Evan Still Blue was released early this week on iTunes and on DJBooth.net.

After claiming that he’s being held hostage by his label earlier this month, Tyga went on to air out his feelings for fellow Young Money rapper Drake in a recent Vibe digital cover story.

“I don’t like Drake as a person,” he said. “He’s just fake to me. I like his music; you know what I’m saying? I think his music is good, but we’re all different people. We were forced together and it was kinda’ like we were forcing relationships together. It is what it is…At the end of the day the reason why I signed to Young Money is because of Wayne. Not because of Drake, not because of Nicki. It was because of Wayne and my relationship with him. I try to be cool with everybody, but sometimes, everybody just has different personalities, motives, and different characters. When you realize that, you realize that’s not a place where you want to continue to grow.”

      1. Tyga is responsible for filming DJ Khaled’s mother with Kidd Kidd. They tried to secretly pass the blame onto French Montana to sabotage his career.

      2. Tyga wasn’t disloyal, Kanye didn’t fuck with his mind, Tyga and Kidd Kidd were never involved with filming Khaled’s mom, which is what French Montana did.

    1. I wish we could name this new shit something besides Hip Hop. That way I could disassociate myself from it with a clear conscience.

    2. That’s some real shit. Niggas will slick talk Drake behind closed doors, but won’t say shit to his face. Then when these same fools hit the studio they try to steal his flow and cadence. OVO is the modern day Motown, deal with it.

      1. that was the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. You can argue drake has some talent (i still think he blows), but to compare them to motown? you my friend, are a retard.

    3. tyga is terrible. you know who else is terrible? statik selectah. the most boring overrated producer there is. who gives a fuck what he thinks.

      1. You serious? Statik is one of very few producing real hip hop! Just listen to ‘RiseAbove’ matter of fact just listen to the whole ‘what goes around album’ or ‘Well Done’

      2. STATIK MAKES THAT REAL HIP HOP GOD THAT SHIT I CAN TAKE NAPS TO WHILE ROCKING JEANS WITH THE DUCK ON EM AND VINTAGE POLO RUGBYS AFTER SMOKING THAT CHOCOLATE IN A PHILLIE WITH MY SHUNS

    4. So what if he’s not from the hood – people are gonna assume it anyway. It’s not like he has to try super hard to convince anyone. I’m tired of people acting like being from the suburbs automatically makes you soft or a fraud. Half those NYC dudes from the golden era came from suburban areas. If you can rap you can rap. Tyga’s not my favorite at all, but he’s brought some heat to the club over the last couple years…

    5. let me get this straight tyga expresses how he feels bout the whole young money situation and drake and hes wrong for being real about the shit. wow society really is in a shithole fuck drake and anybody else that wanna take shots at tyga for being real. to many people these days proud of their ignorance

    6. \TYGA IS A JOKE AND PEOPLE IN THE COMMENTS ARE REALLY COSIGNING AND DEFENDING THIS DUDE? THIS DUDE IS THE EPITOME OF GARBAGE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AND WOULDNT BE ANYTHING IF HE WASNT TRAVIS MCCOY’S COUSIN. DUDE LIES IN EVERY SONG HE’S EVER RECORDED

    7. Here’s my reaction to this and the comments. Why are yall talking about fake rappers. Do you not understand that this is entertainment? And these rappers are making money. I’m not using how rich they are as an excuse. That’s for lames who have no argument. My point is that these rappers are in the industry, which is a business that is promoting image. and these guys arent who their persona is in music. If you listen to a Nicki Minaj interview, she is faker there than her damn music. All of these artist are in it for money. The art of rap is dead now because the record labels allow it to die out for more sales to stupid people like yall who still think what rappers say, is legit. Have we not learned this from Dr. Dre who use to be in a group wearing pink shirts back in the 80s. A prime example of how the music indsutry mocks the simple minded hip hop fans who will buy anything they put out. The amount of people who rock with Young Thug. He drop a couple tracks and a few choruses for ppl. And “Young Thug Go hard bruh!” Hip Hop is a movement that was meant for uplifting and bringing our community together. But the powers that be saw a huge opportunity to exploit, and it all started in the late 80s and has never looked back. And we are to blame becuase we let money rule over our convictions. We created Hip Hop, and now they own it.

    8. Its only teens and school kids that take everything that rappers say seriously. Adults in there 20,s+ know that music is entertainment and exaggerated a bit.no smart gangster is going to do something illegal and put it word for word on a record. To me if a rappers really from the hood he”s qualified to talk that G shit. Cos we all kno what goes down in the hood.so if ur from the hood you’ll be around that environment. So your qualified to talk about it.if a rappers from the subs talkin G shit that’s fake!!Raps entertainment.its like a action movie that u listen to. I thought this dude was corny when I heard that bed rock joint

      1. “g shit” happens in the suburbs too everybody isnt white collared millionaires theres crackheads hobos shootings stabbings robbings drugs guns all that “g shit” that being said drake was never a g he was born with a golden spoon in his mouth

    9. Tyga calling Drake “fake” is quite possibly the most hypocritical statement in hip hop history. Also, I just listened to Tyga’s song “Make it Work” (the one referenced in this article), and it is baffling to me that this guy could diss Drake (subliminally, of course) on a song while ripping off Drake’s “Started From The Bottom” (both with his flow AND the beat). Amazing.
