According to court documents published by The Jasmine Brand, DMX has paid off the mortgage for a house in Westchester County, NY where his ex-wife Tashera Simmons and their four children live. Mortgage payments on the house went unpaid for just under four years before DMX reportedly paid the remaining sum of $258,927.87.
DMX initially purchased the Mount Kisco, NY property in 2000 for $649,000 before multiple stints in jail early in the decade. The rapper and his wife Tashera Simmons filed for divorce in 2012 after 14 years of marriage.
According to The Jasmine Brand, a bank filed a foreclosure lawsuit for nonpayment on the mortgage last year but failed to pursue the issue, granting DMX the chance to pay the outstanding mortgage amount.

Earlier this year, Tashera Simmons spoke about her reasons for divorcing DMX.
“The day that I finally decided to do that wasn’t cause of the drugs, sadly,” Simmons said. “I mean, he would run all over me. Talk any kind of way. Anything, in front of the kids with the drugs. I still felt like I made an oath. That was my husband through thick and thin. I felt like that drug was a disease. So, I wasn’t gonna leave him, but when he started having kids and he didn’t seem remorseful. And on top of that I felt like ‘Damn, you supposed to be my husband. My protector. You’re having unsafe sex not once, but like seven times.’ That showed me he really didn’t care. He took my kindness for weakness.”
