Wu-Tang Clan “A Better Tomorrow” Release Date, Cover Art, Tracklist & Album Stream

The RZA says that the Wu-Tang Clan’s A Better Tomorrow album is slated for a Black Friday release, November 28.

“It’s a record to me that merges the way music was made in the classic essence, in an analog way, as well as merging what’s going down the digital way,” RZA says during an interview with Billboard. “All the entire 10 Clan members are on it. All the [living] members, which is a beautiful thing. And the album has a small concept in a sense, musically it travels from a guy who is going through difficulties, tries to find himself, gets involved with some violence, some troubles, but then realizes that it’s best sometimes to walk away from the past and all the bad times and maybe work on making his life better, and making a better tomorrow. The process of making this album was very unique for me. I started first in my home studio in L.A., then I went to my buddy Adrian Younge and I went to his basement in Southern California where he has all this old ’60s equipment that he be using.”

RZA, who also said that he recorded some material in Memphis, also said that there will be a Wu-edition Boombot Rex limited-edition version of the album, which will be delivered on a portable speaker platform. This version of the album will have a production run of 3000 and will be embedded with eight songs from A Better Tomorrow, two unavailable-on-album instrumentals and the exclusive song, “Big Horn B.” It will be released in advance of the full-length release is slated to only be sold by Zumiez.com.

RZA says that he got the idea when thinking about his interaction with music during his formative years.

“I had the idea pop up into my head, for a while, about music being kind of disconnected to us, of being so digitized and accessible, but yet not tangible,” RZA says. “I just remember how I enjoyed music, when I bought the record, or bought the CD, or bought the cassette. I bought it, it was in my hands, it was mines. I felt like music wasn’t really ours anymore. You know what happened to me one day? I got a lot of songs I bought from iTunes. And then, I tried to play them on my Serato. But because it was in my purchase section, it wouldn’t show up in my Serato library. … That bummed me out. I paid for it but don’t really have access to it. Something about that don’t make no sense, you know what I mean? But this thing here, a tangible item, like your old Walkman or your old cassette, or your old record, that’s what this is bringing back. As far as this company Boombotix, there’s a few people reaching out to us: ‘Put your Wu logo on this.’ But something about this company resonated. I think the ruggedness. Also, their device is more geared to portability. Put it on your bookbag, or strap it on your belt. And so, I felt so cool about that.”

    1. I hope that date is legit. Not expecting a classic but I’m hoping for a solid album, no less than a 4/5. I’ll be cool with that.

    2. COUNTDOWN TO THE ENTIRE HIP HOP COMMUNITY BITCHING ABOUT HOW A BETTER TOMORROW SUCKS…………………..

    3. These old bums are done. Nobody is checking for some kung fu and soul samples and the same bullshit lyrics as ever.

Leave hiphop to the kids. When your time is up you have to go.

      1. Your a faggot Wayne groupie. Leave hip hop for the adults and concentrate on the tenny bopper shit instead, bitch.

      2. Got that Young Thug album for you my nigga….You fuckin’ goofy ass chump! Stay away from shit you can’t comprehend with a limited mind…That other shit is right up your alley!!

      3. except the artists that are still selling records are the older dudes (Em, Jay, Wayne, Kanye).

        Dumb fucking kids

    4. Have a bad feeling that this album is gonna be cringe worthy. And I ain’t talkin bout the kind where you get all screw faced up cause the shit sound so ill.

    5. LETS HOPE ITS NOT COMIN OUT ON SCAM TEMPLE MUSIC

LIKE BOYCOTT SOUL TEMPLE MUSIC ON FACEBOOK TO SEE HOW THIS CROOK RIPPED OFF THOUSANDS OF DIE HARD WU-TANG FANS TRYING TO SUPPORT THAT REAL HIP-HOP SHIT!

      1. what just happens sometimes? niggas just happen to steal from their fans and forget to mail out the merchandise that was paid for?

      2. Didn’t it already come out that Bob Perry was the dude that embezzled all the money? So why bash RZA then for something he didn’t control?

      1. to me too, i hope that is kinda like the forever albums . i dont ask for more..
        oke…

and a couple of killa bees as feat’s but i boubt that;(

      1. Futura Extra Bold Condensed Oblique, haha… ya, they could’ve definitely spent more than 2 seconds picking the font : / Horrible…

I’m GUESSING that the actual cover will just be that image with the city and the Wu W cloud… I think the ‘Better Tomorrow’ text was just thrown on there by whomever animated that image (and animators are not good graphic designers)

The image of the city and the Wu cloud would be sufficient enough.

      1. there is no message. these are a crew of wacky looking 5 percenter criminals who somehow think they can change the world.

    6. I’ll always support my niggas. The greatest rap group of all time. With that said, I’m worried about this album. I’d be pleasantly surprised if it was dope. It’s just hard to trust Rza’s ‘vision’ at this point. His vision seems to be a little jaded by his own ego these days. It can happen. When you make music, especially beats, you can get in a zone where you listen to your own shit so much that you understand what you’re doing, but other listeners don’t, especially if you’re super creative. Rza is in that place. I never doubt his ability, but even great artists need some objectivity now and then, and if you don’t welcome it then you put yourself in danger of falling out of touch. This album is like a huge title bout for an aging boxer fighting to stay in contention. If this album flops, it will be the end of the Wu as a group. If it is a success (to the fans, fuck the sales), it could revive them. Peace.

    7. WAS RZA OF WU-TANG REPLACED BY AN IMPOSTER??

I finally figured out what happened to the Wu and why all this inner turmoil and scandal is happening in the Group. The man that we all know as “RZA” a.ka. Prince Rakeem..A.k.a Rzarector A.k.a Robert Diggs…is DEAD!! He died in the Fall of 1996. Sometime before or after Ghostface Killah’s “Ironman” was Released. “Ironman” was his last completed album. I have’nt figured out how, but it’s possible he Died during the October 1996 Staten Island Storm. Which Flooded his Basement and all of his Beats for upcoming Albums were supposedly destroyed. He was Replaced by an Imposter. One of the 15 Diggs Brothers replaced him.

Everyone looked up to RZA, he was the leader…When anybody bought a Wu-Tang Related album..you immediatly look at the back to see “Produced By RZA” on every song, and you bought the album with no Hesitation. Without that RZA stamp at the Time, Wu-Tang would’nt sell. Wu-Tang would be over if the public found out he died. So they did’nt tell anyone..and Covered it Up. They were already about to Record their most Anticipated album…what were they gonna do??

Well, they got one of the other Diggs Brothers to replace him..he looked most like RZA out of the family..he just got a little bit of Plastic Surgery to make it official. Except he could’nt produce Beats. But that did’nt matter, they just needed this “RZA” to perform at shows and Rhyme on Beats and be the “Figure Head”. As well as Sell beats to other Artist under “RZA”‘s name. 4th Disciple and Tru Master were brought in to make “Wu-Tang Forever”….even Inspectah Deck got in on it and produced some tracks. Everyone was on board because they could’nt fuck up the Biggest pay day they would ever have with Forever. GZA wrote “RZA”‘s Rhymes as best he could in the way The Real RZA would. 4th Disciple, Y-Kim and Tru Master taught fake RZA how to make Beats and sent him to learn “Music Theory” and Piano lessons just in case BET or MTV came in the studio sessions for interviews, He’ll be able to look like a Producer.

Wu-Tang Forever was a Great Album…but something was different….the album did’nt have the same intensity as 36 Chambers. Forever’s Production was more Slicker and Sleeker…and Commercial. It did’nt have the Simple Chinese Dirty drums and Samples like 36 Chambers. Almost as if it was Produced By Someone other then RZA. Forever did’nt even sound like the Previous Solo joints. There was a DRASTIC change in production style..despite only being recorded not even a Year after Ironman.

However, not everyone was happy about keeping up this phony Charade. Method Man has since stated he was’nt too happy at those Wu-Forever sessions, He said his flow on the record showed him to be lazy and just not into it. He missed working with the “REAL” RZA. ODB was so depressed about his cousin, that he rebelled from the group and Delved deep into Depression and Paranoia. He started to Drink more and do more Coke and eventually turn to Crack to cope.

Wu-Tang Forever was released in 1997 and sold 600,000 copies and it’s first week. All was well on the Business side of Wu-Tang…but not for it’s members. The summer of Forever’s release, Upper Wu-Tang Management decided to Make as much money as they can, because they did’nt know how long this “RZA” Charade can go on. So they Announced their Biggest Tour… with Rage Against The Machine. You see, they decided to tour with outsiders, because if they had toured with their Hip-Hop Peers, Tony Touch or somebody might of picked up that “RZA” was’nt RZA. The rest of the Clan HATED the idea of this tour and only agreed to Recording Albums and “Controlled” MTV performances with Fake “RZA”…not REAL tours. They did’nt want to keep fooling their fans anymore.

The Clan eventually rebelled against The Diggs Family and Wu-Tang Management and stopped showing up for shows. When a Loud Records Executive tried to Intervene, they Whooped his Ass and the Tour was Abruptly canceled soon after. The Clan went their Seperate ways. All of them could make it on their own except fake “RZA”. He enjoyed being “RZA” too Much to give it up. He drove expensive whips and took worldwide trips..his dick was sucked by the finest lips. what was he going to do?

Without GZA writing his Rhymes, he could’nt really Rap anymore in the Wu-Tang style. He knew the keyboard and Music Theory, but he could’nt really Produce in that Wu-Tang Style. Real RZA’s “CURE” album was Unfinished….so he could’nt put that out. He moves out to Los Angeles away from anyone who knew Real RZA in New York and decides to become his own rapper and records an Album. He named himself “Bobby Digital” a “RZA” alter-ego….that way he can essentially be himself without having to explain the DRASTIC change in Production and Rhyme Style. “Bobby Digital’s” beats were Amateurish and CASIO Keyboard sounding. His rhymes were ABC rhymes, rapping about pussy and drugs…the stuff that Fake “RZA” enjoyed. Gone were the Scientific, Rightous, 5% Intelligent Rhymes of Albums past. He even tried to make a Movie about Bobby Digital..which still remains unreleased to this day.

Anything related to Wu-Tang Productions was handled by Divine and Power…with Fake “RZA” being the “FACE”. He had to still be used in Interviews and Business deals as a “PUPPET” so Money can keep rolling into WU-Tang Productions. He was after all “Family”..so they all benefited. By this time, the second wave of Wu-Tang Solo records were released, most without RZA production. The record labels needed some RZA beats to sell their Albums…the Clan members could’nt tell them the real RZA is dead, so they went to Wu-Tang Productions and Bought some Tru Master, 4th Disciple, and Y-Kim beats and Bought the “RZA” name to be put on the beats. Raekwon refused to have anything to do with it anymore, hence no “RZA” beats on Immobilarity. All the second wave Solo Albums TANKED compare to the first Wave and the Clan was becoming Broke. Except Method Man. Tical2000 Sold Well based on Who he was and his personality….he also had the Redman Collaboration Popping off. Other Clan Members were’nt so lucky. They knew they needed “RZA” to get the public to buy their records again. U-God, Inspectah Deck and Cappadonna used The RZA name for Beats that were “Ghost Produced” by Others. They also used his name as a Executive Producer “Figure Head”. Ghostface used “RZA” as a “Figure head” for his Supreme Clientele album…and just bought beats from 4th Disciple, Tru Master, Beatnuts and others. Supreme Clientele was a Critically Acclaimed Smash due to Ghostface’s Ear to Successfully Reproduce RZA’s Beats and using his name as “Executive Producer”.

Elsewhere, “Bobby Digital” was becoming a Good Producer in his own right, with Bobby Digital in Stereo becoming a “CULT CLASSIC”….and Producing for acts he met out on the West Coast. Fake RZA was having the time of his life. However…ODB was not. Unable to get over Robert Diggs Death and Fooling the Public, ODB started to Smoke Crack and eventually started to get in trouble and went to Rehab.

With the success of Supreme Clientele…the public started to demand another Wu-Tang Clan Album. The Clan was hesitant at first to do another Fake “RZA” album, but all Clan Members except Method Man was going Broke and they Desperately Needed Money, fast! So they all agreed to another Album with GZA writing Fake RZA’s rhymes and 4th Disciple and Tru Master and other Newly Acquired Affilitates on Production. They worked Hard trying to Replicate that Wu-Tang Sound. The W was a back to basics Album with Dark Production and Samples. The Clan sounded Hungry again due to financial difficulties in some members.

ODB was in rehab but managed to Make MC Conditioner with Snoop Dogg. During the Promotional tours for The W, ODB escaped Rehab and was eventually sentenced to 2 yrs in a Upstate NY Prison. The Clan decides to make another album within several months of the W. To be called Iron Flag. The same arraingment of Wu-Affiliates Ghost producing tracks and GZA writing “RZA’s” rhymes. But GZA had enough with this bullshit Charade, and decides to just email his verses instead of coming to the studio to deal with the drama. Another problem was “Bobby Digital”…By this time, he was more than Confident in his abilities as a Producer and Rapper. He even can mimmick the Wu-Tang Sound to a degree and Rap like “RZA” when he wanted to.

He wanted to Produce this whole album and his EGO really started to Convince himself, that he WAS THE REAL RZA! If nobody did what he wanted, he’ll go Public with the Scam. So Iron Flag was produced by Fake “RZA” using the Wu-Tang style he picked up from Wu Affiliates. With a couple of guest producers like Trackmasters. Except for a Couple of Songs, Iron Flag was Universally panned and hated by fans and critics. The fallout was so terrible, that Wu-Tang vowed never to work with Fake “RZA” again…they only would continue to slap his name and rhymes on various beats to sell solo albums.

ODB Was eventually released from prison. He was so shaken up by the whole Imposter RZA Scandal…he wanted nothing to do with Wu-Tang Productions and he signed to Rocafella records. But he had’nt been able to shake the Demons that Haunted him about Robert Diggs and he eventually succumbed to his Drug Addictions and Died in 2004. After a couple more “Bobby Digital” albums, Fake RZA stayed in L.A and became an Actor. Since he been playing a Role as “RZA” since 1996. He also used his Music Theory skills and RZA’s name to Compose Hollywood movies such as “Ghost Dog” and “Kill Bill” 1 and 2. The Wu-Tang was’nt really selling records anymore except Ghostface, who had his own “RZA” producers making his beats.

By 2006-7. They decide they need another album…One called 8 Diagrams, but with the same arraingment of previous albums. Wu-Affiltiates Beats disguised as RZA’s. By this time, Fake “RZA’s EGO was so out of control for being in Hollywood and Scoring Movies, that he really thought he was a Genius who’s Production skills had surpassed even the Real RZA’s. He refused to Imitate the Wu-Tang sound any longer. He wanted to use his own Bobby Digital Style. Meth, who had money, but was losing influence as an EMCEE, needed a Wu-Tang Record to remind the fans why he’s still the shit. The rest needed the Money, but Ghostface and Raekwon was not doing another album by Fake RZA, with his Symphonies and Guitar Bobby Digital Music. They refused to participate. They eventually settled and released the album. Which was Universally panned and ridiculed by Critics and Fans such as Iron flag was a few years before. So the story is still going on to this day with “A Better Tommorow”. With Fake “RZA” still making decisions and wanting to Control all of Wu-Tang…And Raekwon, still wanting absolutely nothing to do with this scam!

      “THE SAGA CONTINUES”

UPDATE!!!! Raekwon has since decided to join “A Better Tommorow” after an Unknown Agreement was made between Wu-Tang Productions and Raekwon. Fake “RZA” now has 100% Control of this album. The Singles that were released so far, are very Mediocre and Basic…with a Clean LIVE band sound that RZA would never have used in the past.

      1. This was an entertaining read. I respect the creativity. Obviously the Rza is not dead. But I am starting to wonder if he has ghost-producers in the early Wu days. His production is not only way weaker now, it’s almost like he doesn’t even know how to use an MPC. How do you go from making albums like 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, and the purple tape, to making the garbage he’s been putting out for the last decade? Even on Birth of a Prince, which was a dope album, the best songs on there are produced by other producers. Where are all his beats? I mean, even local producers can dust off their equipment and find some decent beats in there. Rza’s got nothing lately. It’s weird.

      2. I think you were right regarding the Staten Island flood which destroyed all of his early-mid 90s era beats. That was the start of the downfall of Wu in terms of its rawness and quality.. One example is if you at look at what happen to Inspectah deck’s debut solo album, which was once being hyped up as potentially being the best Wu solo even surpassing Cuban Linx and Liquid Swords but instead was the opposite and ended being one of the worst solo Wu albums in comparison to their earlier material. It also got delayed to 1999, if the flood didn’t happen his album was suppose to come out in 96 or after Ironman + Rza would of used the old beats (which the flood destroyed) which were pretty much guaranteed to be on point. It looks like Inspectah decks album was started from scratch..

Wu Tang Forever was a decent album but you can tell the sound wasn’t the same anymore, it was a lot more watered down and had that commercial sound such as Triumph being a example. After Wu-forever the Wu were way past their prime and ended up just releasing mediocre material most of the time. Rza becoming all digi certainly didn’t help but maybe made his pockets bigger..

      3. I’m tired of hearing about that flood. Everyone that makes beats or any kind of art has lost material. You just have to make more. If he had hundreds of beats that were supposed to be so great, then he could have made a hundred more. I think there was a hidden hand in those early Wu albums. I actually like the Digi Snacks album and the Birth of a Prince album, but they’re an enjoyable listen because of the originality more than the actual quality. I listen to some of the beats on Cuban Linx like “Knowledge God”, “Spot Rusherz”, “Wu-Gambinos”, and I say to myself, there’s no way that’s the same producer that made those Bobby Digital albums. Not just because the song is different, but because even the cadence of the beats, and timing of the drums, and the arrangements have no similarities to that early Wu stuff. As an artist, no matter how creative you are, there’s always something in your music that has your imprint in it unconsciously, the ‘spirit’ of your music if you will. And his music doesn’t have the same spirit any more. I think there was someone else in the lab with him back then who isn’t there helping him any more and cleaning up these trainwrecks.

      4. dopest alter-biogaphy i’ve read. not quite as good as a famous review of childish gambino’s last record, but fresh nonetheless. my only question: who wrote the Wu Tang Manual? I think it was RZA 1.0, with RZA 2.0 following up with the wordier “Tao of Wu.”

      5. @Lothario: superstitious mumbo jumbo. go study miles davis to watch differences evolve — the only thread is the horn he plays… RZA is not restricted to one instrument, so changes he makes will be less recognizable from experiment to experiment.

most of y’all need to follow Lay Z’s best couple: “Niggas want my old shit / buy my old album…”

so many fans think these artists care as much about you as you claim to care about them.

    8. if rza died in 96 we wouldn’t have gotten supreme clientele in 2000, which is a hiphop classic an rza is all over that album

I ain’t even finish reading that stupidity either ya weirdo

      1. If You learn how to read..you illiterate Bastard..the story explains how Supreme Clientele was made. YOU WERIDO!! LOL For real…read the whole thing, then make a comment. That’s like watching 10 minutes of a movie and saying it sucks..LMAO!! AH AH AH hA HAHHA hA HA HA H…

      2. The story could be Fiction, or it could be true, it could be nothing but Entertainment…that’s up to the Reader to decide. Everything stated in the article is based on FACTS. RZA being dead is truly the writer’s Speculative conclusion, based on THE FACTS…Read it and make your own conclusions…SMART GUY!

      3. hey geekboy

Im making Assumptions, but I believe you are a White BOy..because A Black Man of my Generation..would’nt get so hurt over a Fictional Story…Young White Boyz from experience, like to insult people on the internet without any repercussions…like i said, if you wanna do something, do it!! 7. since ’92, screaming about let’s fight over the internet when the nsa is watching and fb complies

thinking I’m white when I already let it be know I’ve rocked with wu, really you just mad a brother ain’t let that nonsense fly and called the fiction before it simmered and the black youth soaked it up and ran with it as fact

now you’ve exposed yourself to the very same white folk you stated you can’t stand, this site is filled with bigots

so while you ponder that, imma see if I can go to yKim’s crib this weekend and drop a track for old times sake

    9. That “classic essence” is fat fuck Raekwon’s BODY ODOR, Bobby, waddling penguin sweats like a motherfucker and doesn’t eat right, what kind of “Chef” gets caught in the WHITE Castle drive thru anyway? BUY BLACK and not just on Fridays.

    10. i sure hope this album is worth the wait im tired of these veteran rappers teasing real hip hop fans like myself push the album back 100 times then when the album finally comes out the album is half assed bullshit

    11. Fuck wu-tang. Young Thug is a lyrical mastermind. Much better than the likes of Big L, Lord Finesse, Big Daddy Kane, or Kool G Rap or Wu tang. That’s backpack shit. White boy shit. Shit for nerds. Young Thug runs rap bruh. Yeah.

    12. Finally Rae came through, cant wait for this but the album cover needs to at least have the logo on there

    13. Jus heard the full version of Ruckus in B minor, why the hell didnt they release that as the 1st single? “You aint a man until you man up, this aint a party its a just put your hands up!!!” Suuuuuuuuuuu

    14. The cover is dope. I just hope this album is as good as the W, that is the bar of expectation I’m setting for it. If it’s better than that is great, if it’s not about the same then I will be disappointed. The last quarter peeks my interest a lot more than the rest of the year with Black milk, Run the jewels, Kendrick, Phryme and Wu. This has been a bad year for hip hop thus far. Early on in the year it had some promise but many fell short.

      1. Mid to last quarter has been great. In no particular order

        Common
        Ed Og
        Black Milk
        Divine
        Heaven Razah
        Statik Selektah
        Preach Muzik

    15. Why would they put “Keep Watch” and “Ron ‘O’Neal” on there when those songs got such a overwhelmingly negative response? That’s already 2 throw away songs before the album even drops.

    16. Not sure I like this cover, seems like those old No Limit cover superimposing in a collage fashion, sounds like an amateurish photoshop student did this for a school assignment.
I would have re-hired the artist that did Wu-Massacre, now THAT was a work of art.

    17. old ass geezers retire allready. No1 cares besides a few no swag having fags stuck in the 90s with no hopes of pussy or a future. Drake is more sucessfull than all these hasbins combined

      1. fuck swag little bitch i guarantee your not even an adult yet talking bout swag like it’s not for the kids, people like you are the reason hip hop is now full of pussies who mumble on every song and say whack unrelated punchline after whack unrelated punchline

      2. LMAO
Swag shit = Fag shit. Your favorite Swag rappers have gay illuminated butt sex with each other…But at-least there rich as hell!! hahah

The rest of this goes out to anyone else as confused as Drakes personal Dick sucker lol

Real Niggas change shit around them
Swag Faggits change with the times. Tight ass jeans gold grillz and leather skirts lol.

Think about it ma child, How much pussy are your swag rappers gettin when they have to “Make it rain!” to get attention from wemen??…gay

The 90s was the time of true Innovation and Uncompromised Rebellion. The Millennium is all about bending over and getting swagged up the ass like your favorite rapper. Sooo yea I’ll be stuck in the 90s like a muhfucka…jeans baggy as shit.

So here’s the lesson of the day you Children of the Swag
        – “Swag” cant replace “flava”
        – Rap can’t replace Hip-Hop
        – 1 Billion rap stars don’t shine half as bright as one Hip-hop artist. Do ya homework or get schooled

        #SWAGizFAGish
        #Wu4life
#change that fuckin album cover. The idea is ill, but the execution is garbage.

      3. Thats the whole problem to many rapper wannabes its like everybody s a rapper.
We all know now how ungratefull fucks these kids nowadays are coming out of nowhere acting like irritating leeches

    18. I love Wu Tang with all my heart but they’ll never prosper with RZA’s beat man. They need some soul sampled beats in order for this album to be like that. RZA’s beats over the last few years have just been so cheesy and corny IMO. Alchemist and Harry Fraud are the only producers keeping that gritty sample sound

    19. Even if it was wack(I doubt it will be) it will still be 100 times doper than the music these skinny Jean wearing dancing on tables new clown ass wack rappers are making lol

    20. How are they stuck in the 90’s?are they driving cars that are over 20 yrs old and wearing 90’s clothes etc?And if u got a problem with getting older u might as well kill urself now lol.Go give ur gay RnB singer wannabe rapper boyfriend (Drake) some head first lol (definitely a white boy dude that knows nothing about hip hop “geezers” hahaha go find a RnB site lol dumb fuck thinking a RnB “singer” can run rap hahaha

    21. im a huge Wu Fan , have all ther records….this just totally missed the mark…. production wise and it just sounds horrible.. Meth s the only one on point with his spit… Damn son!

    22. Super disappointing album. Can’t believe Im saying this but Rae/Ghost were right, RZA is a hip hop hippie and has lost his ear for beats. This is most likely their last album, and I feel like I was robbed of that dark/energetic Wu-tang sound. RZA you take the L on this one kid. WTF happened? I guess the ride is over. Caught a flat with 8 Diagrams and ran it off the cliff with this one. Ill be bumping Ghosts’ 36 seasons instead.

      1. We ALL knew Rae and Ghost were right, just like they were right about 8 Diagrams. The 2 most consistent motherfuckers in the group and outside the group and people keep talking like they’re bringing everyone else down. RZA over here trying to be an actor and just being miserable at it, fucking everything up trying to rush an album out. You can tell they all just gave up, as usual. “Fuck it, go ahead RZA. Here’s my verse.”

    23. This album… smh, its safe to say Rza should not make any more hiphop beats if this is the way he wants to ficish off the Wu legacy…if I wasn’t a fan I wouldnt even give it a second listen. There’s nothing here that grabs the ear and the drum patterns sound repetitive by the time the album reaches its midpoint, live instrumentation can work but Rza shuda let The Revelation, Adrian Younge and that guy from M.O.P handle the beats cos better beats can be made to sound live using Fruity Loops

    24. this old bums most retire. 48 year fake studio gangstas.

We wanna hear Big Sean, Wayne, Whiz etc.
rap is for youngtsaz not depressed overage rappers.

      1. ”old ass this old ass that” you like being this cockroach
we dont wanna hear big sean wayne lil busy or boosie
Plz name one classic album that youre generation even has…..

      2. :)) the album it may not be good but still method man is better than fucking Wayne and Whiz :)) wondering how can u listen someone rapping about that doesnt make sense :)) pretty sure Bone Thugs N Harmony gonna make a better album 🙂 and Wayne and all these new rappers can learn from them

    25. Wu Tang’s my favorite group of all time. RZA finally sold out the artistic principles of the group and put out a piece of complete garbage.

    26. ppl need to understand that this is grown folks music, because this albums was much better than Diagrams.
Some songs were weird the 1st time but after a second listening it grew like Miracle, I didnt understand the hook and you cant even blame RZA on that since its a 4th Disciple track.

Shit was dope, I’m supporting this!

      1. diagrams was TRASH.. sounds like a highschool reuniion trying to do what you did years ago to rehash those days..rza knocked this one out o fthe park for a new school wu album

    27. thought this was a great album..different wu sound but rza def made it work staying true to lyrics and concepts..core fans prob wanted that hard dark sound but i think this was a refreshing 2014 wu sound and worked out well..enjoy it.

      1. It’s back in the 90’s along with the 20 year old poor versions of these niggaz. Dudes is in their 40’s with money and families probably happy people these days and you want them to still make shit like “C.R.E.A.M”. If they did that today it would be fake as hell

      2. The thing is, the Wu are actually capable of making that grimy dope shit, as you can see by their recent solo shit. This is just a lazy, cyncial effort.

    28. Months ago I couldn’t wait for the album to be released. Now I wish it wasn’t released at all after hearing it. Hopefully more solo projects will drop and restore my faith in that logo

    29. first thing i thought immediately when i heard this album was Rza still has it and rae and ghost are being old gumpy heads who are stuck in the 90s..sure they stlil can body a 90s beast and sure thats classic wu..but rza made this new direction work on the album and i thought it was their best since wu forever..(and i liked iron flag)

this album is dope are real wu heads will BUY this album. support real shit.

      1. old heads r hatin bc they used to a certain sound from the wu..but if you just step back with a clear mind youll see lyrics are on point as ever, concept for songs are on point..only thing could irritate a wu fan is the beats but i think they are nice

      1. Jew/spic actually……Ive been keeping busy, thanks for asking. Just tuned in on the whole Ferguson thing and couldnt stop laughing and smilling with joy. It would seem that as usual blacks stay losing hehe.

    30. I didnt think it was that bad, it was a step up from 8 Diagrams but going in the same direction, and there was some grimmy shit on here just not enough

album was 75% Method Man, Inspectah Deck, and Cappadonna tho

      1. you a coward online, nowhere to be found where the protesting thousands are at during the night around the world. you a punk, straight up. no more words for puss-boys like you.

    31. The Album, as expected – stinks (like a 2 week old dead body). It’ll be forgotten about in 2 weeks.

They made, 1, arguably classic album as a group. The solo albums from certain members, were much stronger.

What you have is, a mixed ability group, trying to make something spectacular.

      It fails, spectacularly.

&, least we forget… it’s all about the money. No love, no soul.

1 out of 10. An abysmal album.
      Really, quite embarrassing.

Greatest Hits & the ‘Secret Album’ ha fucking ha…is all that’s left to stop most of the members having to work at Mcdonald’s in the future.

      That’s ‘THEIR’ Better Tomorrow.

Some people ‘DO’ get away with Murder.

      1. I’m actually glad this is their last album and not their 1st where they have to try and impress little bitches like you. ain’t nothing wrong with this album beyond a bunch of punk ass so-called fans with unrealistic expectations who skim thru music within minutes and supposedly have a “definition”.

    32. Actually, they should be OK for cash. Like in 1 of the lines, they get half a million for shows. They can tour & flog the dead horse for $$$$$.

      Just, keeping it real.

    33. Yo dis is laughable. I’m surprised Wu members arent distancing themselves from Rza. He just crashed a Ferrari. Lyrics is there, but what good are lyrics if the beats blows ass. Rza just shitted on us all.

    34. same old “beats” comments that’s been repeated throughout the last few years. got any original thoughts? I’m spinning that “Felt” track, that’ll amp up a club with Jamel Irief’s 1st line alone! I’m listening thru Cerwin Vega’s not headphones little boy. RZA dropped jems, y’aLL just some lost souls who wan’t some online props, and when this online sh*t dies, I’ll still be djing nationally while you nerds will be home bored.

      1. For someone DJing ‘nationally’ you seem very insecure. What’s wrong with headphones? There’s more than one way to listen to music oh enlightened one. BTW, major online props for your DJing prowess that apparently spans vastly across the globe!

      2. DJing a club with Felt? Hahahaha. Good luck playa, aint enough alcohol in the world to listen to your corny ass choice of songs.

    35. Let me drop an honest review real quick. First off, I’m a lifelong WU fan, but an objective one. I don’t say everything they drop is dope just ’cause it has a WU logo on it.

The Good: The effort is apparent. It’s clear that a lot of effort went into this album, mostly from a production and engineering standpoint. This wasn’t just a money grab, it was a sincere effort to try to make an album worthy of the Wu’s legacy. “Felt”, “We Will Fight”, “Mistaken Identity”, “Crushed Egos”, “Miracle”, and “Necklace” are the best songs on the album. I know a lot of people like “Pioneer the Frontier” because it has familiar Wu sounds in it that will give Wu fans a boner, but I didn’t think it was that great. Rza and Method Man were clearly the members most dedicated to this album, and you can hear it in their verses and enthusiasm. Rae may have come off as a bit grouchy, but when he did spit, his verses were ill. He ripped Crushed Egos with an unorthodox rhyme scheme.

The Bad: Just because a lot of effort is put into something doesn’t mean it’s good. Some of these songs are overdone. They have a symphony of musicians on some of these songs, and they wasted money on them, because they could have done better by just making conventional beats instead of having these Jimmy Fallon Live sounding songs. As far as lyrics, the chemistry is pretty much gone. There are some fleeting moments where they seem ‘united’ for lack of a better word, but it’s mostly random verses pasted together. There’s no ‘cutting off a niggas verse in his last bar and pushing him out of the way to spit your verse’ type shit. I guess that’s something not done in hip-hop any more, but it was one of the things that made the Wu great. There are a few songs on the album that fall in the same category of overdone songs that are trying too hard to be ‘musical’. “Never Let Go”, “Ron O’Neal”, “A Better Tomorrow”, and “Preacher’s Daughter” fall in that category. Deck and Donna really struggled on this album. I like Donna more than most Wu fans, but his rhymes just fall short. He’s at his best when he’s experimenting with vocabulary and being a slang scientist, when he takes a conventional approach he’s nothing more than a rapper with weak rhymes. Deck has just lost his flow. He raps like a backpacker now, forcing multi-syllable rhymes, with the same technique on every song. The ferocity he once had on songs like “Guillotine” and “Hellz Wind Staff” is a vague memory.

The Ugly: This album feels as much like a alternative rock album as it does a Hip-Hop album. There are certain songs that don’t even really have ‘beats’, they just sound like jam bands playing at any local blues bar. As much as I appreciate all genres of music, me being a musician myself, I want to hear HIP-HOP. I don’t really like live drums on Hip-Hop songs unless it’s really done well. The dirtiness and darkness of an MPC or drum machine just ‘feels’ grittier than the live drums and live instruments. I mean, they could have done a ‘live’ version of the album separately. Listen, I’m not no ‘street nigga’, but I’m from the streets, and this album does not feel ‘street’. By street I don’t mean ignorant, I just mean raw, dark, abrasive, mysterious. This album isn’t any of that. If I didn’t mention a certain song it’s because I thought it was mediocre, not wack, but not noteworthy.

In the end, it’s a respectable effort. I will buy the album, but it’s not gonna wear out my stereo. I will honestly buy the album just to have it as a collectors item, but I will only keep 5 or 6 songs on rotation. Now that this thing is out, really it’s more of a relief. The energy surrounding this album was just never right. I think The Clan is better off making solo albums, or 2 or 3 of them coming together for certain projects organically and naturally. They all have their niche, but those niches no longer form a complete cipher as they once did. Long live the Wu. Peace.

      1. Your breakdown is spot on. The chorus’ on these songs are lame too. Wu aint the Wu anymore. The closest thing we got to that now may be Slaughterhouse.

      2. The new Wu album is better than slaughterhouses last album, not the first slaughter but the last one. Album 3 is a big one for them, to get back on track and get shady out of their hooks and beats.

      3. Agree with most you mentioned Like you, I’m a musician too and listen to a wide range of music, yet like my hiphop more basic and, strange to say, not too musical. And this new Wu album is too much all over the place. Too many changes and too many ideas to make it a sound come across cohesive. And aside of that. the album sounds too polished for my taste.

However, the utmost respect to RZA for tryin’ to stay inventive every Wu album; it’s a real accomplishment this man went from the clashing keys on “Incarcerated Scarfaces” back in 1995 to writing out charts for orchestras nowadays, but, for me, this time around nothing really worked. And that’s comin’ from somebody who actually liked “8 Diagrams”, which is by no means a masterpiece, but really does have that dark, brooding Wu-sound we’ve come to love.

    36. The way some of yall talking, I thought this was going to be hot garbage. You Crab a$$ N*ggas, lol. Is this album one of their best….no. It’s better than 8 diagrams and maybe better than Iron flag, I will see how I feel about it in a week or so.

      1. aww, don’t get all violent on the computer junior. It’s a 3/5 album, maybe a 3.5 which by todays standards is not that bad. The reasons its not trash is the songs like Felt, Necklace, Miracle, 40th Street Black, crushed egos and Keep Watch. It has it’s moments but its not great. They tried to have some up to date and some old on there styles of songs which didn’t mesh well for a great cohesive album (along with mailed in verses) from front to back but its still has 6-7 songs that are nice on the album. Just my opinion, maybe a little biased but my opinion at the end of the day. Now go take yours and shove it where it don’t shine.

    37. Damn man I gotta agree with a lot of the negative responses here and like many, I’m a die hard. I’ve been collecting everything since ’93, from the main albums to 12 inches from affiliates as far as KGB just because 4th Disciple produced it. First things first, I think the problem here is not that it’s a wack album. It really isn’t, it’s actually far better than a lot of rap albums out now. Mater of fact, for what it is, it’s actually great. The problem is that it’s simply not the album we wanted from the Wu at this time. If this was like an experimental or live album that they had done in between, it wouldn’t be no problem. It would’ve been like a bonus album while they were working on the real one. This album still has highlights that kill 99% of the bullshit out there. Miracle is amazing, as is Crushed Egos, Pioneer The Frontier, Hold The Heater, Mistaken Identity and Felt is a killer. Masta Killa is on his A-game as is Meth and Rae, they really shined hard. Ghost is Ghost, but you can hear his excellence is driven by the right type of beats. By no means is he wack, not even close, it’s just that he doesn’t come to full fruition. Deck was a disappointment, I agree with what the other dude said, where is Deck from ‘Guillotines’ and ‘Triumph’, he’s been losing it for a long time now. Cappa was bad, he was noticeably bad. GZA was GZA, he’s never wow or anything, he just plays his position well and fits well. His lyrics crush everything of course, but we already knew that. U-God was cool. Always liked his bass voice. And this is the curse of Wu-Tang. When you’re the greatest Hip Hop group of all time, when you have 7 certified classics under your belt, when you’re a legendary group with cult status, hall of fame status, your logo is the second most powerful logo in music and tatood on people’s flesh worldwide, it’s very difficult to maintain greatness for 20 years straight. And so when you drop something that’s dope, it’s perceived as weak and disappointing, but it’s not great, it’s just dope. It’s like MJ playing a good game scoring 20. While that’s great for others, we’d consider anything less than 50 points for MJ a bad game. It’s the same way we rate great artists like the WU-Tang Clan. It’s a miracle they’re actually THIS relevant after 20 years, it’s quite amazing really. So, my point is that by no means it’s a bad album, it was just the wrong album to drop at this moment in time. This is the last album (minus the secret album), so give your fans and more importantly, give your legacy the closure it deserves. Don’t experiment, don’t elevate to heights we can’t grasp yet, or don’t want to grasp. The risk is too great because your legacy is too great. Always leave on a good note, listen to your fans. We’ve been with you for 20 years, I think we kind of know by now what we want to hear from our favorite artists. I will buy this album because like others said, i can hear the effort that went into this and I believe RZA 100% when he says he came out of pocket half a mil to make this happen, so just out of respect to that man and the incredible music he gave over 20 years, i gotta buy this, hell I might buy a few. But it’s out of respect to RZA and the Wu, not because it’s the album I want. The saddest thing is that the secret album Once Upon A Time In Shaolin is probably the best thing since Forever because it was produced for the fans ear by someone who understands exactly what we want to hear. And while I applaud the unique approach, had this album been what I wanted I wouldn’t mind it being sold to one buyer. Now all we can hope for is that whoever buys that shit, leaks it. I’m looking forward to Ghost’s 36 seasons. But other than that, I’m afraid we’re at the end of the greatest legacy in Hip Hop. Even Rae’s FILA is sounding like crap radioplay Hiphop shit, c’mon Rae, featurings from french Montana? really? dont be as lost as RZA was this time around. Your best two efforts, cubanlinx1 and 2 should have shown you by now what we want and support, and what we do not! smh

    38. This album is atrocious. And this is coming from a Wu fan from day 1. Sounds like some new age Kanye shit. I’m pissed.

      1. No it doesn’t. It’s still a Wu sounding album but with live instruments and IMO he did pull it off. No other producer could pull off what RZA did with this album IMO. I love it.

    39. I don’t want hear any crap about this album going over our heads. Dope is dope and awful is awful. This album is awful. Damn what happened to the Wu????

    40. Homie who pledged 5 mill for Once Upon a Time… should withdraw his offer ASAP. This album was boring as fuck. Couple of high spots, but loads of boring ass bullshit.

    41. Someone tell Rza to come back down to Earth. And when he does, he should STOP fcuking with the Wu legacy that he built with these “live” beats smh. As a hiphop fan , I give absolutely zero fcuks whether he “went down to Memphis” to have some guitar players record a couple of licks for this album, or which famous bassist or any other artistically inclined legendary mofo’s contributed to this albums music,WE JUST WANT TO HEAR THE HIP-HOP RZA, WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO FCUKING UNDERSTAND??! And now that this sh*t has leaked Rza’ll be lucky if it sells 5 grand the first week. Maybe it’ll wake him up and snap him out of the fcuking la-la land he’s living in.

      1. Straight up. Instead of going to Memphis, and Southern Cali, and Morocco, how ’bout going to fuckin’ NEW YORK! Get in the lab with the guys who are still making good hip-hop and get in the hip-hop energy again. Get with Pete Rock and dust off the MPC. Stop being a ‘composer’ and be a beat maker. Stop trying to turn every song into a musical soundscape and just make a dope fuckin’ song. As much as I love and respect Rza as a artist and as an extraordinarily cultured individual with great knowledge, even a wise man can get gassed, and these mothafuckas in Hollywood have convinced him that he’s Wolfgang Mozart or some shit. Oh, and what about all that talk about this being a ‘concept album’? I was expecting something like “Prince Among Thieves” by Prince Paul or the way Ghost is doing this 36 Seasons joint. There was no concept or even a common thread between songs. Not that I care if there is or not, but why would he try to build this up to be some brilliant brain child of his? It’s just Rza with a bunch of musicians and him saying ‘trust me, this is dope, even if everyone else besides me thinks it’s weak, trust me, it’s dope’. This ‘anything I touch is Hip-Hop because I am Hip-Hop’ mentality he has is hubris and the legacy has taken a blow because of it. Peace.

    42. Someone who knows the engineer of the 5 mil album told me that he couldn’t believe RZA chose to release this album, and left the other one for one buyer. It’s apparently the best Wu album since Forever. smh. somebody knock these niggaz oops upside the head when they see ’em.

      1. It’s Cilvaringz’s album, not RZA’s. They are going to tour the world with it via private listening sessions.

      2. It’s a wu-tang album, cilvaringz produced and apparently got a lot of press cause it was cilva’s idea to make one copy. No way rza would allow anyone else to make a wu-tang clan album without him….. sheet, i wish he would! haha

    43. Another round of solo joints will drop after this A Better Tomorrow Album. Still looking forward to 36 Seasons(Ghostface), Blue & Cream Supreme Clientele 2 (Ghostface), F.I.L.A (Raekwon), Blackout 3 (Red & Meth), Crystal Meth (Method Man), Dark Matter (Gza), Czarface 2 (7L, Esoteric, Rebel INS), and maybe another soundtrack for Man with the iron fists 2.

    44. trash get on drakes level you hasbins. It would be sad if they can’t even satisfy the 30 fans that they have left with this garbage. No drake feature no relevence no listens from any average music fan who isn’t a hipster nerd still stuck in the 90s with no swag.

    45. A better tomorrow sucks man. This shit is no good. At least ghost is coming out next week. Im going to but it but not this new Wu. I guess nothing lasts forever.

    46. To everyone here that is pissed off about this sloppy seconds album do some research on Y-Kim. Years ago I read and heard through radio interviews that Wu Group and Y-Kim had differences. Y-Kim went on to claim that he was the one to provide most of the album concepts for all the early Wu albums. I had my doubts and always looked for RZA’s innovation in his new projects. Since that time RZA has had some bright flashes here an there but has not been able to put out an entire album out that compares to the classics. A modern project that came close the classic feel was legendary weapons.

From what I can tell Dreddy Krugger learned form Y-Kim and has been able to replicate the style, hence the sound of Wu Tang: Meets Indie Culture. If you look at everything Wu related that has been nice since WU Forever most of it has been influenced by outside sources and all the material controlled by RZA has been average at best. This makes me think that Y-Kim might have had the level of creative involvement that he claimed to have in the early albums. If RZA had been the solo creative force behind the classics he would have been able to at least replicate the sound in projects post 36 Chambers but he hasn’t come close. “Show n Prove” was a lesson I learned from the Wu and the only thing RZA has shown and proved is that he can’t produce entire albums.
