Ab-Soul is set to release his first major label album, These Days…, June 24. In an interview with XXL, he explains the title of the project.

“It’s kind of like self-explanatory,” he says. “I just wanted it to be a little time capsule of the last couple of years since my absence. The vibe of music and life right now like the last couple of years.”

The Carson, California rapper says that fans of Control System will like his new music and he denies purposely trying to make a song for the radio. He calls the recording process for These Days… “fun” and says he recorded most of the album at Mac Miller’s house.

“We had a lot of fun in that red room,” Ab-Soul says. “Very psychedelic, you could lose track of time. Just open the door and it’s daylight. People like recording there ’cause of the vibe.”

Earlier this month, Ab-Soul said that These Days… will feature several of his labelmates.

“Know for sure that it’s a Top Dawg party,” he said at the time. “It’s definitely a Top Dawg party. I got all the homies from the camp…I definitely got my home team with me. My guy Soundwave, Tae Beast, Skyhe Hutch, Tommy Black, but it’s a few little special guests on there. I don’t know if we—I might have to come back and holla. I might have to come bring them.”
