Kendrick Lamar and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are set to contend for Grammy Awards in several categories where the two acts are pitted against one another. Those categories include Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Best Rap Album and Best Rap Performance.
Recently, Joey Bada$$ spoke about who he thinks will win and who he feels should win the most Grammy Awards when the show is held Sunday (January 26).
“The reality of it is that Macklemore is going to win over Kendrick,” Bada$$ said in an interview with MTV. “He has more record sales, he’s more commercial and that’s just the reality of it.”

Although he says that is a reality for him, Joey also says it’s not what he feels should happen.
“That’s Grammys,” he said. “That’s what you got, but I personally feel like Kendrick deserves that more.”
Yesterday (January 23), it was reported that most Grammy Rap committee members felt that Macklemore & Ryan Lewis should not qualify for rap Grammys. This came from an ABC News report which featured a person who attended the general Grammy committee meeting.

“It’s not that they don’t think he’s a rapper,” the person said of the rap committee’s decision. “It’s just that when you’re trying to protect categories and someone has become popular, it should be judged as much…Where does their music exist? Who are their fans?”
