A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip has teamed up with actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill to create a television series loosely based on Tip’s life during the Native Tongues movement, according to Deadline. The publication reports that there is no writer for the drama, which is slated to be produced by Appian Way, DiCaprio’s company.
The show is scheduled to be shopped to networks in the coming week, according to Deadline.
The Native Tongues consisted of several acts who worked together in the 1980s and 1990s. The collective included De La Soul, Black Sheep, Queen Latifah, Jungle Brothers and A Tribe Called Quest.
In November, DiCaprio invited Kanye West and 2 Chainz to perform for his birthday. In December, 50 Cent said he hoped to work with DiCaprio.
Tip promoted the TV show report on his Twitter timeline today (January 10).
