Common Working On “Nobody Smiling” Album With No I.D.

Common says that this year will be a special year for him. “I gotta say 2014 is going to be one of my greatest times in music,” the Chicago rapper says during an interview with revolttv. “I feel excited about the project that I’m working on. It’s called Nobody Smiling.”

During an interview with HipHopDX in October, Common said he was working on an EP with producer No I.D. In the revolttv interview, the rapper-actor says his new project was originally going to be an EP, but that he and No I.D. decided to make it into an album because they were recording a multitude of tracks.

The bald-headed rapper calls the album a “call to action.” “We came up with this concept,” Common says. “Nobody Smiling was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago, or that is going on. I like to say was because we’re going to bring it into fruition that it’s going to stop. All the violence that’s going on, it happens in Chicago, but it’s happenin’ around the world in many ways.”

    1. thats what im saying they change story all around left eyes on loose rite now, jay z playing with weegee boards.knew creeper who creeped in bushes return living dead moving.seen em play wth weegee boards on their breaks.

    2. early 80s i was getting thrown on floor out he mother. lil son bitch with pink mask on put em on ground out the 666 nites.had chain saw 8 miles away.

    3. It’s actually with Cocaine 80s, the collective that No ID is part of and Common frequently collaborates with. Also working on this album is James Fauntelroy.

      1. hahahahaha. I laughed out loud when I read that shit. These guys writing skills are laughable. How does this stuff get passed the editor? I mean, all this guy had to do was put 3 small paragraphs together and that line made the cut. I guess they realize they can just write anything, or post any bullshit and call it an ‘exclusive’. I’m not trying to disrespect the staff, but it’s gotten to a point where they’re disrespecting us with their lack of integrity and effort. There are talented, creative people all over the place. They need to employ some.

      2. Was going to point out the same thing. Did a 10 year old write this shit?

DX is getting really lazy with their content. The site actually used to be really dope before but now it seems they are just concerned with making money and fuck quality.

    4. Ate bitch ass Drake? He ended up complimenting him, saying he liked his music, and said there was no beef. Common is a little ho lol

      1. actually he always produced with dilla and no id, it was only after he signed with good music, he started collabing with kanye.

      2. He’s only worked with one producer outside of Dilla and No Id, that would be Kanye and that album was one of his best so please do your homework and shut the f up

    5. Why refer to him as the, “bald headed rapper”? Furthermore, Common is one of my favorite artists of all time, but I listened to his new track on Shade 45 this am. I have to say that the song sounds like it was made in somebody’s bathroom. Please step your game up!

    6. Common is the most underrated rapper in the history of Hip-Hop. Nobody can deny this or else you’re a bonafide troll. Second to O.C.’s Word…Life album, Resurrection is one of the most underrated hip hop albums of all time.

      1. How is he underrated? He’s known as a great MC among underground listeners and he’s also had a lot of pop success. The guy is a millionaire. He’s on every bullshit MTV list of “top rappers”, and he’s on most people’s own list as one of the best rappers ever. You can’t find a motherfucker who hasn’t heard of him, even among non-rap fans. He’s rated just fine. What else do you want people to do? Bow before him and sprinkle rose petals at his feet?

    7. I want to that NasDotCOMM album, hopefully ya make that happen even if it’s mixtape form where there’s 5-6 new songs and the rest was remix songs.

    8. It would be a blessing if he returns to the Soundbombing format for 1ne song. With Mos, Talib, Black Thought and P Monch. That would be a blessing.
