“We’re walking through the shop and Pharrell, I notice, has a bright pink Lacoste [shirt] on,” Mister Cartoon says in a clip published by vladtv.com December 30. “My goal was to get him inside, to the back of the shop without anybody noticing how he’s dressed.
“The homies in the shop, especially my tattoo master, he don’t listen to Hip Hop,” Mister Cartoon continued. “He don’t know about the latest fashion…He’s not up on new Hip Hop.”
Although Mister Cartoon says he tried to sneak past everyone in the shop, someone spotted Pharrell’s shirt.
“That’s a gorgeous blouse you have on,” someone in the shop said, according to Mister Cartoon. “Do they make those for men?”
Cartoon says he changed the subject, got Pharrell to the back of the shop and was able to complete his tattoo.
“It’s basically like getting a skin graft, but you’re not taking skin from your ass or your legs,” Pharrell said. “These guys actually grow the skin for you. First you have to give them a sample of your skin, which they then replicate. Once that’s been done, they sew it on – and it’s seamless.”
Pharrell was also named one of HipHopDX’s Most Important Producers Of 2013.
