Kanye West Appears On “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Kanye West appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” today (October 9).

The appearance followed a feud between West and the program’s host, Jimmy Kimmel. The feud came to be after Kanye West was offended by a spoof of his recent interview with BBC Radio 1, where children reenacted the conversation using transcripts.

Some believed West’s feud with Kimmel was a publicity stunt. West denied this during today’s interview with Kimmel.

“I’ve never done a publicity stunt in my life,” West said. “Anytime I went up and spoke my mind, whether or not it put my career in jeopardy, or whatever someone so-called said, it was always what I thought was the truth…I don’t follow rules of normal celebrities or whatever their publicist tells them to say. I don’t do publicity stunts. Period. Don’t ever think that.”

West also explained why his feud with Kimmel escalated.

“Jimmy does his thing,” West said. “I do my thing. At a certain point, these egos can flare up. We kind of just took it to high school a little bit.”

During the interview, West also explained his reasons for being upset at Kimmel’s spoof.

“If you guys look at the Zane [Lowe] interview [with BBC Radio 1] it’s really something extremely fearless for someone in my position to do,” Kanye West said. “Most people bow down to TV, or bow down to these cameras. I could care less about any of these cameras, in all honesty. All I care about is my family. I care about protecting my girl, protecting my baby and protecting my ideas and my dreams and that’s the reason why I went so crazy.”

Kanye West Calls Himself A Creative Genius

During the appearance, West also said that he is not politically correct.

“I’m not running for office,” Kanye West said. “I’m just here to make good music and make people feel good when they hear my music. When I did that interview [with BBC Radio 1], I was really vocal about a lot of the things I’ve been dealing with over the past ten years, in classification of just a celebrity, because for me, I’m a creative genius. There’s no other way to word it. I know you’re not supposed to say that about yourself. I say things the wrong way a lot of times, but my intention is always positive. I want to bring more things to the world. I want to help the world.”

West also said that he is proud to refer to himself as a genius, regardless of what others think.

“I’m totally weird,” West said. “I’m totally honest. I’m totally inappropriate at times. For me to say I wasn’t a genius, I would just be lying to you and myself.”

Kanye West Says His Mother Influenced His Self-Confidence

Kanye West also addressed his self-confidence and refusal to follow “rules” of society.

“My mother made me believe in myself,” West said. “No matter how many people tell me, ‘Stop believing in yourself. Stop saying what you can do. Stop affirming what you’re gonna do and then completing that in real life. That’s the improper way of doing it.’ I refuse to follow those rules that society has set up in the way that they control people with low self-esteem, with improper information, with branding, with marketing. I refuse to follow those rules. It’s about truth. It’s about information. It’s about awesomeness.”

West also said that he hopes to influence fields outside of music.

“Exactly what I did with music, I want to apply to product, I want to apply to education,” West said. “This is what my company DONDA is about.”

West’s creative company DONDA was named after West’s mother, Donda West. West’s mother passed away in 2007. She was 58.

As noted, West’s feud with Kimmel was sparked following a spoof on the nightly show.

West voiced his displeasure via Twitter.

The BBC Radio 1 interview can be viewed below, broken into four parts, followed by the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” spoof.

    1. wow.Kanye is on a good one. but hes really honing in on what he wants to say and i respect that. Truth is the answer

    2. I respect this man, its hard to sometimes get youre point across but this explained the BBC interview.
Clearly we are all looking into the one liners he says about himself, but he is a musical genius and he did change the rap game with regards to fashion.

I have sledged him on here before but i will no longer LET THE MAN LIVE.

      1. or a single rockstar who called themself the biggest rockstar on the planet, although i think john lennon claimed the beatles were bigger than jesus, but jesus is folklore

    3. Never done a publicity stunt in his life? What about the 50 Cent vs Kanye album sales ‘beef’?

Kayne really believes the yes-men around him.

    4. just got done doing the son of a bitch looked at house window seen a dog with owners head on jumping out window. going down streets standing up hitch hivking son of a biches for the dawn of the day

    5. Say whatever you wanna say, but Kanye is incredible passionate about what he’s doing. You can tell when he switch into beast mode, he’s trying to express his racing thoughts so hard that I wonder how he can’t forgot to breathe, LOL. As he said himself his exact expressions are not the most fortunate ones sometimes, but those who claiming that his thoughts are not comprehensive simply don’t get the big picture. One may not agree his points all together, but his bravery to speak his mind is respectable regardless.

      1. More like the emasculation of Black men and American men in general. Not all Black men are that way though.

      2. Fair to say and most of these clowns, artists and fans either fail or refuse to see that. But you know things tend to workout in a funny way, for ex. I read a story once how in one Caribbean country, the plantation owners imported snakes and released the snakes at the boundaries of the plantations to keep the slaves from escaping but these incestuous mongrels forgot one thing snakes did not differentiate between the plantation owners and slaves. So we’ll see….

      3. Above- you are the fag, dumb ass caveman. Wow, I guess Kim ain’t the only one fiending for black dick. Dumb ass, stop sucking the family pet’s dick.

      4. Anon above=don’t let the white boy/cavefag get to you bro, caveboys do not like when you show and prove how stupid they are. Think they can can control this culture of ours.

    6. Although I appreciate it when one of my folks expresses him/herself well, this is ridiculous, money sounds like a white chick, dude, speak like a man, black, brown, white, whatever, but speak like a man.
Dun, we know MJ, you ain’t MJ or at least pre-Thriller MJ and even at the end MJ was moving towards mid-70s Stevie Wonder .

    7. everytime i hear kanye talk about himself and how great he is i stop liking him a little bit more

get over yourself nicca you’re a fucking rapper

    8. if yeezus is ur idea of hip hop progression, then im out.. gimmi college dropout kanye.. alpha step sigma step.. gimmi that over this weirdo

    9. But I thought Rick Ross banned Jimmy Kimmel from the culture for crossing that line? LMAO fucking clown shoulda kept his mouth shut especially if he didnt even know what the fuck he was speaking on!

    10. People disrespecting kanye west can suck my motherfuckin dick. He’s a real person, brave and driven and fuck you.

    11. Looking at the comments and seeing all you simpletons make funny of Kanye just makes me shake my head. If you would actually listen to the things this guy is saying and read between the lines to see the FREE motivation this guy is providing you with then maybe you all wouldn’t be making 10 dollars an hour and living at home with your parents…

      1. It would require intelligence and knowledge to understand what Kanye is saying, sadly both of those are void on this site except to a few

      2. to understand whats hes saying i would have to actually sit thru one of his interviews which is never gonna happen

    12. I love kanye but him saying hes never done a pubility stunt is BS. Anybody remember him and fifty with their fake ass beef? Lol

    13. Say what y’all want, but Kanye is an ass. There’s no denying Kanye is talented and that he’s creative, but he needs to be more like his Lord and Master, Jay-Z, and not insist on making people acknowledge his skills. People that have skills don’t always have to tell everybody else how good they think they are. I knew Kanye was dope because I’ve listened to his music, not because he’s went on all these interviews telling everybody that same story about people saying he couldn’t rap, he dropped out of school, etc. Just make fire music and be quiet lil nigga.

    14. How you gonna block crazy chainsaw 666’s comment, isnt’ that Kanye’s screen name for the bot he plugged his soul into when he jumped ship and started swimming in the river styx. WTF.

    15. Kanye is a fame whore just like Kim. He couldnt even stick to his guns and stay mad at Jimmy for more than a week!!
