Migos knew it had a hit as soon as it heard the instrumental for “Versace.” “When Zaytoven brought over the beat, it was magic,” Quavo, one-third of Migos, says in an interview with HipHopSince1987TV. The trio is rounded out by Takeoff and Offset. “Versace, Versace, back and forth,” Quavo continues. “We made magic with Drake. At a B-Day bash, he said what’s up, listened to the mixtape, liked all the songs. It worked instantly…Sent it back ASAP.”
“Versace,” of course, has also been reworked in a separate version by Drake and Meek Mill. Papoose and Shawnna, among others, have also redone the song. Migos says it appreciates all the remixes. “As long as you shout out the Migos,” Takeoff says. “I don’t have a problem with it.”
The ATL group also talked about what it has to do to continue to emerge in the already-crowded Atlanta Rap scene. “Consistency, keeping music in the streets,” Quavo says. “It’s us, Trinidad James, Rich Homie Quan. It’s a young nigga movement. We’re just going to keep it as a team. It’s a competition at the same time, but we all still young niggas trying to eat at the same time.”

Y.R.N., the mixtape released by the Migos last month, included collaborations with Gucci Mane, Trinidad James and RiFF RaFF. As for future collaborators, Migos made its hope to work with one of Hip Hop’s heavyweights known. “I want to work with Jay-Z,” Quavo says. “His album hard. He really went down South with it.”
In addition to Y.R.N., Migos also has a mixtape in the works with Soulja Boy. “We might name it Young Pharaohs,” Quavo says. “It’s halfway done.”
