Skizz has decided to release a full length project displaying his production skills and the New York Hip Hop scene on June 23. The Brooklyn, New York resident is known for highlighting Underground Hip Hop on his radio shows.
“Triboro Thoro,” the first single off B.Q.E. (Brooklyn-Queens Experience) was released on May 1 in the form of a music video. The east coast record features Hannibal Stax (of F.A.B.I.D./Gang Starr Foundation), Big Noyd, and NYGz’ Panchi. All three of these emcees represent the New York area. Hannibal Stax represents East New York, Brooklyn. Big Noyd is from Queens and Panchi hails from the boogie-down Bronx.
In regards to the process of the new single, “My good friend and talented producer, Marco Polo, and I often give each other records, samples, and drum breaks to use to see how we will flip them in our own style” said DJ Skizz in a press statement. “Marco gave me the sample used in this song and told me that it was perfect for me and my Queens dunny-dun sound. I laughed, took the sample, fired up my MPC and the beat that came out was NYC to the fullest. I called up H. Stax, Panchi, and [Big] Noyd and we recorded the song in Brooklyn. I then went back to the lab, laid down some cuts on the hook—and the result…’Triboro Thoro.’”
