Speaking with The Bullitts this month, HipHopDX got insights to working with Jay-Z as Music Coordinator on The Great Gatsby soundtrack. Additionally, the man also known as Jeymes Samuel explained some of his recordings and plans with Jay Electronica, Lucy Liu and Yasiin Bey.

To open his list, Jeymes selected Joni Mitchell’s 1974 album, Court And Spark. The sixth LP from the later Q-Tip collaborator featured two of her greatest hits in “Help Me” and “Free Man In Paris.”  Next, he selected Prince’s charged 1987 Sign “O” The Times double-disc. He cited another guitarist, this one out both the Jazz and Folk genres in Terry Callier’s 1974 LP, What Color Is Love? The earlier album from his list was  David Bowie’s breakthrough fourth album, Hunky Dory, released in 1971. This effort featured hit “Changes” and “Life On Mars?” Lastly, and his only Hip Hop selection, Jeymes highlighted the seemingly Top 5 staple, The Blueprint by Jay-Z. The 12 year-old LP was a benchmark Roc-A-Fella Records release for his later collaborator.
