50 Cent has been named executive producer on the upcoming Starz television series “Power,” reports Variety.
The drama centers on a “Gotham nightclub owner who skirts the line between legitimacy and criminality.” Fif will co-executive produce the series with 300‘s Mark Canton and End of Watch‘s Randall Emmett. They have all previously worked together on Freelancers and 2013’s The Tomb. Additionally, Courtney Kemp Agboh scribe (The Good Wife) will pen the script.
The G-Unit rapper-turned-actor will also soon star in the film The Frozen Ground as a 1980s-era pimp.

UPDATE: The HollywoodReporter has stated that Starz ordered its first episodes to be produced of “Power.” The news broke late last week. The series is expected to air on the premium cable network beginning in 2014.
50 Cent reacted in a press statement. “This is a passion project for me, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have found a home with Starz. I look forward to working with this incredibly talented team on making ‘Power’ a hit show.”
Starz CEO Chris Albrecht added, “[50 Cent] has a unique and specific vision for the series, lending it an authenticity and voice rarely seen.”
