Even though it looks like an Outkast reunion won’t be happening anytime soon, that isn’t keeping Big Boi from taking a break from music. Now, in a recent interview with Rap Radar’s YN, Big Boi says he’s already knee-deep in his next project.
Big Boi revealed that he’s already ten songs deep in the making of his as-of-yet untitled third solo LP. He explained that he actually began this new record shortly after completing his upcoming Dangerous Lies and Vicious Rumors.
“Well actually, I started the beat selection process [for Dangerous Lies and Vicious Rumors] after my last record [Sir Lucious Left Foot: Son of Chico Dusty], I turned my record in, and I’m actually ten songs deep into my next album,” he said. “I’m just constantly recording, and once I got the beats and came off tour, ‘cus I toured for like 18 months, I just went in the studio and starting hammering them out, just trying to string the pearl necklace together.”
Big Boi also discussed the title of his upcoming LP, which drops this December 11 on Def Jam. He said that the title actually comes from his late grandmother, who had planned on using the title for her autobiography detailing her life as a drug dealer.

“[The title] actually came from my grandma, who before last Christmas last year passed away, [and] it was going to be the title of her book,” he said. “My grandma was a hustler. She came from Fraser home projects, and she’s sold it all. She was like, ‘If I ever put a movie out or a book, it’ll be called Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors, but I’m not going to put it out, it’d fuck everybody’s family up. Our family would be fucked up ‘cus I’m telling on everybody.'”
