The Top 10 Most Popular Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 10/1/2012

There are a lot of albums coming up this Fall. Despite the numerous pushbacks, there are in fact some huge projects surfacing over the next few months. We’re getting a taste of these projects this week, especially from Kendrick Lamar, Kid Cudi, and 50 Cent. Then of course we have a diss track (when don’t we?), and the return of “New God Flow” (in at #8 this week). So there was a lot happening, as usual. Check out the selections below.

Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre Take a Tour Of Compton

Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, m.A.A.d City drops on October 22nd, and of course the leaks have begun. In at #1 this week is the Dr. Dre-assisted “Compton.” Kendrick reunites with mentor Dr. Dre on this tough cut, and delivers on time. Then Mr. Lamar returns again with “Art Of Peer Pressure.” at #4. Kendrick shows up again to close out the list at #10 helping ZZ Ward out on “Cryin Wolf.” It’s a busy week for KDot. Kid Cudi also had a good week, as he dropped some Indicud goodness in the form of “King Wizard,” and that came in at #2.

Hopsin Gets Dissed By The Jokerr

Looks like we have another beef on our hands. The Jokerr came in at #6 this week dissing Hopsin on the track “Sidekick.” We had a diss track circulating on another Top Singles list – Diggy Simmons’ J. Cole diss “Fall Down,” but that didn’t make the list this week. J. Cole did show up though, on “Get Free Coleworld” with Major Lazer at #5 and then back again with “I’m a Fool” at #9. The king of rap beefs, 50 Cent, came through at #2 with the help of Too Short on “First Date.” Then Talib Kweli and Ryan Leslie came in at #7 with “Outstanding.”
