Lauryn Hill Joins Nas At Rock The Bells In New Jersey, Announces She’s “Back Again”

As Rock the Bells finished off in New Jersey this year, Ms. Lauryn Hill surprised fans by joining Nas on stage for their song, “If I Ruled the World.” Midway through Nas’ set, he paused for the chorus to the song as Ms. Hill entered the stage to roaring applause from fans at the festival.

Once Hill’s hook was done, she remained on stage to assist Nas with the verses, finishing off some of of the QB emcee’s lines. Nas then responded by thanking her and others who assisted in his set via Twitter, including Large Professor and Scarface.

According to NJ.com, Lauryn Hill also spoke to the crowd to say, “I have been gone for a long time but I’m back again.”

    1. NOBODY EVEN CARE ENOUGH TO PUT SOME COMMENTS

WHO THE FUCK IS LAURYN HILL NOWADAYS? IF HE AIN’T GETTING WEEZY, WIZ, DRAKE, 2 CHAINZ, GUCCI MANE, AC/DC, NICKI MINAJ, SOULJA BOY OR JUSTIN BIEBER ON HER ALBUM, IT WILL FLOP FOR SURE.

      1. Ain’t it a shame tho. That we always forget the real musicians? but when they pass away, look at how many people come out and say, “ooh, l love lauryn hill, she was the best! Yet we give spotlight to people selling their souls like Kanye and then rant about the word nigga and bitch. How about staying true to your roots. Mos def didn’t change.

      2. I don’t care what any new artist does but Lauryn Hill is the greatest female MC ever. Yup, I said it. Nicki, Lil Kim, Foxy..whoever else could never touch Hill. These new fans know nothing of Hip Hop because new artists are so lame and watered down. Too bad

    2. Ok… thats nice. And? This isnt the first time Lauryn Hill has emerged from the shadows and announced that she’s “back again” either via outright spoken announcement or song or whatever. I’ll believe its a comeback when I witness it, and even if she is sincere about trying to get back to the music, I’m mad skeptical of her ability to please her fans the way she was once able to do. Just too much time has passed

      1. son, did you really just get butt hurt off my comment enough to be a grammar Nazi? LOL you mad bro? Whatever, I stand by what I said. I’ll believe in a come back when I see some music coming out, cuz all she’s done in the last 5 years in put out that one song “Repercussions” and BS her way through a tour. I’d love Ms. Hill to come back but I’m not getting my hopes up

    3. So this means she wants to pay her taxes? Every time a rapper owes the IRS, it’s suddenly the “right time” to return. Ain’t that right, Nas?

    4. PEACE
Comment below: nah, son, Lauren is nice hands down it’s Mc Lyte. I heard her freestyle not long ago, she’ll take out 99.9% of male or female and mcs and rappers out now (including comedy-mc ElMvis).

      PEACE

      1. Let’s see loudmouth, let’s see how better you are. You talk about everybody else in the world so this should be easy, right? Or this is when you offer excuses, but your opinion matters in the meanwhile, correct?

Upload tinypics or URL addresses. We know about Photoshop so take your time.

    5. hell yeah she is back the whore is broke. she going die out on the road. hahah her and nas broke will have to do shows until they die just to keep from going back to the ghetto haha

      1. You sound like Nas fucked ya girl or ya moms or something. Please believe that neither one of these two is anywhere near broke you idiot! Your definition of broke and theirs is two different things KID! Shit I say I’m broke but 90 percent of the people I know are way worse off than I am. And my broke is anything less than a quarter mill. So what you think they threshold is douchebag?

    6. She retired while at her prime, I doubt she will ever be as good as she was on Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and The Score

    7. AHHH THESE TWO, BOTH NEED THE MONEY, WOULDNT BE SURPRISED IF THEY DID A JOINT ALBUM, AND THEN A WORLDWIDE TOUR. ANYTHING TO MAKE SOME MONEY TO PAY OFF THERE DEBTS. WONDER WHY LAURYN GOT SHORT HAIR? SHE HAD TO SELL SOME FOR MONEY. WE KNOW WHY YOU BACK HOE

    8. iv got a pitch hear me out
Ms hill dresses in an alter boy outfit
with bob levy dressed as the pontiff thats pope to all you slapnut dumbfuks and
beetlejuice dressed as a swiss guard as levy eats blue cheeze outa Ms hills pretty hiney all on sirius for a cool mil for Ms hill

    9. This was a Sad weekend in black history…two of the most successful rapers in hip hop history did a festival less than 100 miles from each other that’s some real Divide and conquer shit .instead of strengthening the hip hop genre they do a separate show…..willie lynch is still in the minds of many in 2012…this is a sad day in hip hip history….kanye and jay should of been headlining at rock the bells not doing shows with pearl jam!!!!! if you understand black history you will know where I am coming from Jay is the one of the greatest of all time..but that doesn’t mean hes not a Uncle Tom, Sambo of our time Sammy Davis Jr..

      1. Damn your an idiot!!….. so instead of encouraging hip hop artitst to do more festivals with a bigger reach you would rather they be at the same show?

    10. “Please believe that neither one of these two is anywhere near broke”

And you know this how? Because Nas released an album? Both have had well documented money problems. Not saying they can’t recoup, but they could be hella struggling and their fans wouldn’t know it.

    11. Yawn…how many times in the past ten years has she said that she was “back”? She released an ill-advised Unplugged album, a weak Fugees “reunion” song and been in and out of trouble. I called her one of the Top 10 MC’s but that was back in the ’90s. She fell off.

    12. “She fell off”

Probably couldn’t handle success. On one hand, at least she didn’t force the music out. She just stayed gone.
