Twista has been sued for the death of a bodyguard in a tour bus crash in 2004.
According to The Chicago Tribune (via FSD), the family of Arthur “Butch” Dixon has filed suit against the Chicago, Illinois rapper. Dixon died of multiple blunt force trauma during a rollover crash in Pennsylvania. The crash occurred when Twista’s cousin, Otis Bankhead, fell asleep at the wheel on the way back to Chicago from New York.
The lawsuit targets Twista and his record labels and promoters for not barring Bankhead from driving. Bankhead allegedly had a history of driving violations and his license had been suspended at the time of the crash.
Dixon’s family had filed a similar lawsuit two years after the crash, but their lawyers dropped the case last year.
This is the reason people should have life insurance, so that their family doesn’t have to resort to lawsuits because of financial problems.

well said young man
Would there be a lawsuit if there wasn’t a celebrity or record label involved?
So even though Twista had nothing to do with it they are suing the person(s) they can get the most money from. The person should have had life insurance, but I still think they would try to sue Twista and company because they want more of that all might dollar.
Do you honestly think a bodyguard for a rapper is going to have life insurance? lol He probably didn’t even have a gun permit.
That’s the point, duh. People need to wake up and take care of their business, so nobody is struggling to bury them and pay bills.
the family does have a somewhat valid point. you can’t really blame fingers at twist, but whoever hired/signed the check/ did the paper work for “butch”, should have checked credentials… if your son was killed in a car accident and you found out the driver that killed him didn’t have a valid drivers licence, you would probably be pissed…
Truth Teller –
I’m not disagreeing with you, just saying the mentality of most bodyguards, especially one’s who are protecting rappers, is probably pretty narrow to begin with. They’re thinking about parties, groupies and free booze, not if they die how will their family pay for the funeral. Even though it’s not Twista’s fault, I think he should do the right thing and at least pay for the funeral. I bet if he does, this lawsuit goes away.
The security guard was a wonderful man, husband, and father he was the son of blues great Willie Dixion. He love to coach high school football and he was also a Cook County Sheriff Deputy.
