Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire has officially signed to Universal Republic.
According to Billboard.com, the Brooklyn, New York rapper has inked a deal to release future albums on the imprint. He has built an impressive buzz over the past year, releasing his breakout sophomore mixtape Lost in Translation in September 2011.
eXquire came close to quitting rap before, speaking with HipHopDX about wanting to exit the game twice. “I don’t know. It was just kinda like, ‘I’m not gon’ give up,’ I guess. I’d found something that I loved to do and it wasn’t that easy to stop. But I was like Lost In Translation was gonna be my last one. Like, ‘I’m serious this time, I’ma do this one and I ain’t gonna do no more.’ I think most artists are conflicted and going back and forth between what’s accepted and going against the grain and persuing your dreams.”
