B.o.B, Big K.R.I.T., Tech N9ne, MGK & Kendrick Lamar Join For 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards Cypher

Hip Hop veteran Tech N9ne joined in the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards cypher with Machine Gun Kelly, Big K.R.I.T., B.o.B and Kendrick Lamar.

The quintet each took turns spitting rhymes off the dome, with K.R.I.T. taking first verse duties on the freestyle. Tech Nino, clad in a tie and collared buttondown, came next, while Machine Gun Kelly, Kendrick Lamar and B.o.B closed out the cypher.

    Watch the freestyle below.

    1. I live my life in the dungeon
came out a dragon I prolly could touch the sun with
My bare hands, What are your plans?
      To win a grammy?
Sweet taste of victory, like Oprah’s punany?

      No Words.

    2. Big krit , kendrick lamar and b.o.b was fire ,Techn9ne and Machine gun kelly could have been better they were ok

      1. The original meaning of freestyle is just a loose verse, not something that you come up with as you rhyme, doesn’t matter if it’s written or not.

      2. @ Ayy – no, a freestyle is a verse that you make up off the top of your head. That’s why it’s called FREESTYLE. It’s not supposed to be something that has already been written or rehearsed. You make it up as you go. The problem is the new rappers don’t know how to do that. That’s how you get garbage FREESTYLES when they do radio interviews.

      3. Shuttup dogg, if they were actually freestyling nobody would wanna hear it, shit would be 10 times wacker than what it is now.. enjoy the verses and stop bitching over a definition, you on some lil elementary school shit..

      4. @Anonymous – Ayy is right. A freestyle started originally as a verse that could jump from topic to topic with no particular rhyme scheme. Many rappers today still use freestyle in this way.

    3. This looks like something I’d see at my fucking highschool!! This is 2011 RAP?? sooo sad

      Big K.R.I.T—not good 2/10
      Tech Nine—lame 4/10
      MGK——-this dud suxxx!! talken 666 u are garbage!!! 1/10
      Kendrick—-huh— get outta here 3/10
BOB— saved this whole experience but still wasnt good 6/10

    4. OH my god machine gun kelly looks like such a bad ass lol. If he wasnt dreesed like such a fag then maybe id give him a chance but he sucks. Even his rap name his horible

    5. Wow Kelly looked like a cross between a confused teenager and a male prostitute. Dudes garbage too. BoB was the only decent one IMO.

    6. Machine Gun Kelly sounds like Yelawolf. B.o.b. Saved the whole cypher. Tech nine scares the shit outta me. Kendrick Lamar looked like he aint even wanna be there. KRIT come on, the dude is dope but could and has done better.

      1. Are you f*cking kidding me? Did you not see the Shady cypher? That was the best one of the night. All 6 of them killed it.

    7. they put Tech next to these guys? come the fuck on, Lamar will be mayor success soon but Tech is better than all of them combined, he should be with Busta Rhymes and Ludacris

      1. If by weird, you mean murdered, then yes, Tech murdered.

I’ve heard the hype bout MGK, but his last line was the only thing that really struck me as dope. Everything else was just repetative.

        B.O.B. was on point too

    8. Cypher was dope, but #FAIL alert goes to HipHopDX. One of my hip-hop pet peeves is seeing “writers” use phrases like “off the dome” when these were CLEARLY written, prepared verses. I know the term “freestyle” has taken on a new meaning these days, but off the dome freestyles are literally thought of on the spot.

Steven Horowitz, are you REALLY HIP-HOP, or is this just a job for you? U gotta know this culture to write about it…

    9. well thought this was the best one. then i watched 2.0 Boys, disgusting! however this was a close second, everyone went in and MGK, well “Tell everybody a white boy just bodied Black Entertainment Television”

    10. hmmmm, k i guess they had to level out the cyphers with random people but like, this could’ve been legendary without fucking ‘MGK’ and P.O.P., or i guess B.O.B., like fuck put luda and busta on this one, or even k mccall… smh

    11. Tech N9ne, Kendrick Lamar, B.o.B., K.R.I.T., MGK. Wish they all would have went a little longer excepting that MGK dude. Shady cypher still the best though. Will check out MMG next but there’s no hope they’ll be better.

    12. Kendrick Lamar is waaayy too over hyped, I watched this with an open mind but come on son. This was a weak Cypher imo.
