Brooklyn Bodega and Fat Beats team up to bring a pop-up store to Downtown Brooklyn, with a kick-off party featuring A Tribe Called Quest and Jigmastas founding members.

Two legendary New York City deejay/producers, DJ Spinna and Ali Shaheed Muhammad will be on hand this weekend (July 23 and July 24) at Brooklyn, New York’s Dekalb Market to kick off the launch of the new store “Bbeats.” The space, located in the former location for Albee Square Mall, is a newly-created collaboration between Brooklyn Bodega, who produce the yearly Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival and Fat Beats, the legendary record store-turned-Hip Hop label.

Dekalb Market, on the corner of Flatbush Avenue and Willoughby, will be open seven days a week, featuring a variety of pop-up stores; including “Bbeats” by Brooklyn Bodega and Fat Beats, a beer garden on weekends by Brooklyn Bodega called the “The Cooler,” restaurant “Bbeats & Bites” by Brooklyn Bodega and Mazie’s Bites and much more. This weekend’s kick-off event has free admission, and is open to the public.

Last week, Shaheed, a founding member of A Tribe Called Quest, performed during the seventh annual Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival week. DJ Spinna, a founding member of The Jigmastas, has recently produced for artists such as Homeboy Sandman and Phonte.
