The Top 10 Most Popular DX Hip Hop Singles The Week Of 5/23/2011

Beginning this week, HipHopDX will give you the 10 most popular singles on the site from the past seven days. Each Friday, our staff will give you the ranked list from each week, based on visits.

    J. Cole Edges Out Close Friend Drake

In our first week, Roc Nation’s J. Cole and Young Money’s Drake battled it out for the top spot, with J. Cole winning by a close margin of less than 5,000 visits. The Lion King-referencing song included a film sample and is a part of Cole’s recent performances. Will it make Cole’s anticipated debut album? Only he knows…

Young Money was a popular draw this week, with two Lil Wayne songs, the aforementioned Drake free giveaway song, and the pair’s appearance alongside Rick Ross on DJ Khaled‘s new single.

Joe Budden & Royce Da 5’9 Slaughter The Charts

The Dr. Dre, Slaughterhouse and Eminem camps were another popular audio destination this week. A vintage Royce reference track for Dre’s 1999 album 2001 continued to draw interest, while new Joe Budden and the ever-curious Detox sessions leak “Die Hard” pulled in plays and comments.

    1. Damn, the writers at DX stepped their game way up after all those terrible, one-sided articles that were published on this site in the last months. Well done!

    2. I’m On One is the song of the summer. Period. DJ Khaled doesn’t deserve a song that good for his album.

    3. Should list them first with how many page views then a second list of how their ratings stack up against eachother

      1. Ratings on this site are garbage?

        Slow song? 1 star
Popular rapper? At most 3 star
Song that takes a few listens to understand? -1 star

    4. this shits stupid… the most popular singles every week are just gonna be watever singles they put on the front page

    5. This is great now they show some love for Top 10 most requested song’s, this could be nice to all music lovers.
